::Ottom stood in the broadcast room. The walls aboard the S.S. Say, a minmatar battlecruiser class vessel shimmered with special radio and light wave conditioned textures; to scramble trace signals for maximum secrecy while transmitting: a sword in his hands::

“It looks nothing like my family sword.” Ottom stated plainly examining the crystalline blade.

“It isn’t your family sword.” Chauncy replied. Her hair had gotten long, errant dread locks cascaded in front of her delicate features.

::Ottom tossed the light weapon to the freed Minmatar gunnery sergeant::

“Hold this for me?” Ottom cocked his head to the side raising an eyebrow.

“You mean it?” Chauncy said bluntly reaching for the scabbard that was found with the long crystal sword.

“I don’t think that is the true Excalibur but it is one of a kind. There are no inscriptions on this sword and the one I was looking for is supposed to have leads to home.”

00Remember not to play with that sword Chauncy, it can cut hull armor with the monofilament edge00 Henry reported over the loud speaker as Chauncy nodded towards Henry’s only form of observation. The ships security cameras.

“Henry, prepare a Pirate Radio broadcast please.”

00Encrypting outgoing signals…now00

I am searching for something pilots and mercenaries.

Far and wide I looked for Excalibur and now I search for something else to sate my desires to return to a home world only spoken of in lore and legend called Earth. While looking for this sword it came to my attention that a lance was born of the same material and forged near the same location during the same era.

Now according to the tribesman that handed this blade off to me there is another artifact known as Lancelot. However this weapon of ancient design is supposedly cursed.

There was a time when I was not one to believe in such childlike fantasies. Over the years I have developed a more cognizant empathy with spirituality taunting me to adhere to such paranoia.

This sword has no markings on it. Lancelot may. Keep your eyes peeled because while I may or may not allow the cursed thing aboard my craft I do want to read the inscriptions.

Thank you for all the help you have offered recently in redeeming this artifact of legend and any help one might offer in finding Lancelot will also be greatly appreciated.

Fly safe.

“Thank you Henry.” Ottom looked relieved at not being under the red light of the active broadcast.

“Chauncy! Sheath that thing before you…” Ottom exclaimed.

“Oh!” There was a hiss as a life-support scrubber was nicked by the clear blades deceptive length.

I don't remember Mirkur Draug'Tyr being quite so drug fueled.

She's mad but she's magic, there's no lie in her fire.

I once knew a militia pilot who called his Incursus "Lancealot". He referred to the antennae cluster of his ship as "the lance", had it sharpened and put frozen corpses of enemy crewmembers on it.

The ship was destroyed at some point, of course. Maybe, that "cursed lance" is still floating somewhere around the Vlillirier system, if noone salvaged it.

Also, this broadcast is a good reminder to finally stop drinking.

I would expect such behavior from a minmatar, not gallente. But thank you for opening for me another aspect of gallente life. Unfortunately, I can't say I am very happy for knowing this... Straight

Though the 'lance' antenna does kind describe the Incursus really well: charge into somebody's face and hope to Pator that you got close enough to do ****-all.

Lol, tell me. One of my first losses on the theater was a rail Catalyst to an Intaki separatist who rode a blaster Incursus under the tracking of my 125mm rails. And that's if we don't touch the Enyo, and, spirits see, THAT was a nugget to crack back then.

::Ottom held a piece of papyrus delicately in his hands::

"You're sure this is all you got?" Ottom said to a view screen looking sidelong with a quizzical expression on his face.

"Yezz." A static filled mechanical response was heard over a small microphone speaker.

::Ottom shook the paper away and the hologram faded from a piece of papyrus into nothing::

"Jack." Ottom said into the microphone. "Come back to the ship we are leaving this backwater planet and heading to some of the research facilities newly opened at an Infosphere. Out."

"Rogger, Outt." Was Jack Grayson's response from planet side.

Turning towards the red light within the signal protected room of S.S. Say's broadcast booth Ottom said. "Henry. Start program."

::A red light illuminated::

Hello again capsuleers. Ottom here.

If you don't know I am in search of a weapon that goes by the name Lancelot. I am not one for giving up once I have sunk my teeth into something but these clues are not what I expected.

I have here two types of artifacts that your clues have offered up and your clues have suggested. Two totally different leads. I will explain them so you understand why my engineering officer is currently running from cannibals on the planet below.

1. I looked into stacking corpses on a lance which led me to a few different places and multiple cursed lances. None of them having inscriptions on the shafts and none of them being very ancient in craftsmanship or related to lore. I do think a few of these expeditions are going to leave a scar.

It turns out this practice of terror is more closely related to vampirism than I care to investigate any further. In light of this please keep in mind that while the information is as interesting as it is terrifying the lance in which I speak... Lancelot is cursed but not... ::Ottom cleared his throat trying to find the right words:: ...not like this.

2. This brings me to my second lead. There was a Slaverhound dog fighting ring run by a person who went by the name of Butto Gholly aboard a gutted slaver ship where the slaves revolted and turned the transport vessel into a home for freed slaves.

Aboard this ship there was an undefeated Slaverhound fighting ring champion named Dragon that won so many matches the ex-slaves freed the hound. I found the animals bronzed statue aboard the ship when I was privileged to come and see their tastes had changed from pitting animals against each other to participating in the Faction Warfare.

I am now in route to the burial site of the Slaverhounds namesake in the Khanid Kingdom. A "nice" slave master who was spared a gruesome death once the slaves did take the ship. When there I am sure I will find something else to offer to these very vague tales of Lancelot and find the weapon, whatever it may be.

Thank you for your support and any information you may be able to offer on the term Dragon and Lancelot.

Ottom out.

I am not on drugs although if I were the facts before me would still be solid proof of vocal lore leading to results where written word leads to slavery in more cases than not.

Excalibur the broadsword is clear as crystal and does not lead me to any home world but presents more questions begging to be answered.

If you think it is drugs that have illuminated these questions then I pity your cynicism.

The tribal elders in remembering fallen heroes via dreamscapes and vocal lore reinvented the weapon known as Tristan.

Tristans lead to Excalibur the missing broadsword.

Excalibur the missing broadsword has led to a cannibalistic vampire Lancelot that is cursed.

Call me crazy but curses can be broken.

Us Matari did not recognise the Tristan until we encountered the Gallente. I assume that both the other blades were Gallentean though I had never heard of these myths anywhere.

Any professional weaponsmith of old age would laugh at your "crystal sword".
There is a reason why swords were made from steel, and the most expensive Caldari swords have several layers of different steels with different properties, constituting the blade.

The crystal material can be sharp, can be strong, but lacks one exclusively important quality: flexibility.
In other words, your sword will shatter in combat, and that's the last thing any of warriors would want.

You, of course, may say that the crystal might be "very strong", but any chemistry course well tell you about defects in crystal lattice, and in the fight defects will accumulate under kinetic interactions. It will shatter. If not today, then tomorrow.

But don't you think that for the time you would own the cursed object, the curse would affect you and might strike back even after you gift the object?

Plenty of cursed lances around.

Never heard of Lancelot though, but he does sound Gallente.

I'm looking for a weapon not a person.

Lancelot upon further research sounds like a weapon easily hidden for a slave's escape from slaver hounds on foot.

It would be a retractable or foldable lance of some kind.

This would explain the curse if anyone found it it would look broken.

Let me know if anyone finds any old broken spears laying around.
