Been gone for a while, what did I miss?

So I quit in.. um.. 2010 I think. I've been playing the hell out of AI War lately and after getting curbstomped on 10/10 I got the itch to play EvE again, especially since somehow the entire world has failed to produce another good sandbox MMO in all that time.

Tier 3 BCs were the latest and greatest at the time. I'm hoping you can all fill me in on what's been going on!

I heard my beloved Hurricane was nerfed :(
Also EON doesn't seem to be publishing anymore and my maps are so out of date.. I suppose I should finally get used to Dotlan, they seem to still be around.
Are EFT and Evemon still up-to-date and commonly used?

Edit: What the hell is a bonus remap? CCP didn't implement respec'ing while I wasn't looking, did they?

  • Everything in Eve got much Much faster. If you're noting going 2k/s you're gonna get caught and die in a fire.
  • Newest addition to the game is Tech 3 Destroyers which are awesome. Would highly recommend the Svipul with combat probes Twisted
  • BC's and BS are pretty **** nowadays for any type of small gang stuff and can't use them in blobs because people figured out how to use bombs.
  • ISBoxer got banned for using the broadcasting functionality (can still use it for window switching).
  • Minerals are in a weird spot atm and will be getting addressed soon.
  • Supers are going to be changed soon to something that actually isn't horribly broken. SOV and POS are finally getting the attention they need soon as well.
  • Wormholes had a lot of changes to them recently
  • Lots of other small things e.g. cynos near pos etc.

Ongoing rebalance of all the ships, all of the T1 stuff that never got used is now viable to use because it's no longer crap, some of the more popular stuff like the Drake and the Hurricane have received a small change, they're still good, just not so much better than the rest as to make them the only choice.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Most subcaps have been re-balanced since you were last here, some rather significantly depending on how you used them. Of course this doesn't apply to T3 Cruisers, cause they still have no idea what they are doing.

More ships added, including ORE Mining Frigate, Sisters of Eve line (Bonuses to Drones, and Exploration), Mordu's Legion (Scram Range and kity missiles), Bowhead Freighter (Freighter for moving Fitted ships), and 2 of the T3 Destroyers (Amarr and Minmatar).
T3 Destroyers are not like T3 Cruisers, they don't have subs, but "modes" you can change on the fly to adjust ship bonuses. Well worth checking out, lots of fun.

Drifter NPC's were added, they can appear next to Jove Structures in all securities of space. If you aren't a cap, or with friends, leave em alone.

We have Ship Skins.. Sorta.. with a better version on the way.

The Eve Development cycle has moved from 2 Major, 2 Minor releases a year, to a new release every 6 weeks. It's much nicer.

Goons are still Grrr.

A new type of lvl4 mission has been added, Burner Missions, they are freely declinable, require a frig, and go against another NPC frig that assumes they have Pirate Implants, Perfect Skills, Boosts, and shiny fit..

Thera, a WH system with 4 Sisters of Eve stations and a boatload of WH's signatures in it was added.. Considered the Jita of W-Space.

Caps and Supers can take gates now. Jump Range got the nerf hammer, and they added other drawbacks to using your Jump Drive. Was designed to limit force projection..

Most ships got their warpspeed changed. Bigger ships are slower, small ships are faster, and Angel Ships get a bonus to their warpspeed (Cause CCP noticed during their Pirate Ship Balance that Angels ships were lacking a "unique" trait)

Freighters now have lowslots.. Don't get your hopes up, Damage Control's don't fit.

Lastly, for me at least..

Many ships have got updated models. This includes unique ones for T2 Counterparts. Moa line being my personal fav. Blackbird line is nice too.

  • Following targets.
  • Et cetera

Few little oddities like marauders having crazy tanks, interceptors that hop through bubbles and T3 destroyers that are stupidly designed and should be deleted. (They obviously did not learn from T3 cruisers)

CCP - Building ant hills and magnifying glasses for fat kids

Not even once

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

I think I'm going to ship-spinning and researching fits and such for a couple of days at least.. so much has changed!

Find a nice out-of-the-way spot to get back into practice. Can't go in highsec because CONCORD hates me for some unfathomable reason.

Just in case: T3ds are getting nerfs already and an increase in price. So while assumed OP, they got a fairly big sig and get slaughtered by BCs and similar, while costing about as much. They're good at annihilating everything smaller, but who would've guessed a T3 destroyer beats T1 and T2 frigs...

Anomalies, whs and the like, green are warp to's, red has to be scanned down. They'll show up in the probe interface with name etc if they're green.

Their sites you can scan. The red ones have to be probed out. The green ones you can warp straight to.

Cosmic signatures and anomalies. Open your probe scanner (Alt+P) for those.

Im not sure if your the same guy that posted a while back about that but the gal ships do not look plastic at all. The solution was a shading effect setting or something like that. Ill have to look back through my posts and find the thread.
