Gila CCP you missed a trick.

Should have given it 25 bandwidth instead of 20, this would have allowed it to use small drones as well as mediums without increasing DPS. Just a thought if you ever decide to rebalance it upwards at any point.

They don't want them to use small drones. The Gurista ships have a very specialized drone bonus. Each size of ship can only use a specific size and limited number but they are much stronger than normal drones.

Wyrm gets a bonus to light drones.

Gila to medium drones.

Rattlesnake to heavy and sentry drones.

it would also add a small drone to its bandwidth.....and it can still use small drones.....and i hear if you are having probs with frigs, rlmls do a good job with that.

i think you are the first to say the gila needs a buff.

But why use light drones when the med drones of your Gila are flying fast nuff to catch almost all frigs

T2 warriors + rapid light missiles with maxed skills do almost 300 dps...this is more then enough to kill frigs...

Can confirm medium drones have no trouble slaying frigates. If it's an mwd kiter it will be paper and one RLML volley will convince him to be somewhere else.

The Gila is already the best faction cruiser in the game.

Ugh... everytime someone mentions the mordus pirate cruisers name tiny kittens die. I like tiny kittens, can we not ever undock these toxic ships please.

Add to that list t3 dessies too actually. Undocking one literally murders cute puppies by the tenfold.


As for the Gila, it's fine as it is. It's mediums already wreck most frigates, i do not understand why you'd need an extra light?

Everything about the Gila is perfectP

I've been flying a Gila since they updated the ship model, so about 10months or so.

I use Tech2 - Heavy missile launchers - Ammo: Cal Navy Heavy missiles / Fury missiles.
Vespa / Hammer Aug drones with 1x Federation Navy Omnidirectional Tracking Link (Tracking script installed)
Running Active shield tank with Afterburner

= Killing machine @ up to 60km radiusPirate

i am actually using a amarr confessor for lvl 3 missions. fun as hell.

In my experience, people who want something (like the abiltiy to use 5 light drones from a Gila) get tunnel vision and don't realize that doing so would have th consequence you describe. CCP would then have to tone down the medium drone bonus to compensate for the fact that the ship could launch a 3rd drone.

The Gila is fine as is, medium drones have no problems with frigs and if it's a matter of defense, Rapid Lights work fine.

I haven't flown the Orthrus as I have relatively **** missile skills, but it seems like it doesn't compare to the 50k ehp tank you get so easily on a gila. I understand it's a beastly RLML kiter but they seem to melt fast when caught.

Seems like there seems to be some kind of confusion, so my next task will be to add another topic to my fitting FAQ - tanking.

if you allow me to make an educated observation - while the background of the Gila and the Orthrus share the same coloration, identical they are not.

What the Gila lacks (a little) in maximum speed and agility, the Orthrus has plenty theirof an give the angel cartel a run for their money - muahaha.

If someone didn't overnerf heavy missiles a while back, the Orthrus would be a long range artillery-errm heavy missile boat that would strike fear in the eyes of every opponent they encounter.

But back to my favorite pirate faction cruiser, the Gila.

You are correct when you say this one can take a beating but you shouldn't do the very same in a fragile ship like the Orthrus which relies more on speed and mobility to evade a sudden fate.

And for everyone who doesn't know, you shall not fly a nano ship brawling, guns blazing into a ship that will tank whatever you think you are throwing on - it will not end well.
