Do you think there should be a cheaper form of "PLEX" ?

Plex is far from being a micro transaction and with the introduction ofnso many things in game that players want other than aren't really worth a Plex, I think it would be obvious we need a few cheaper versions of Plex, or even a "points system" (work on AUR system maybe?)


Example people with real money buy the smaller versions of PLEX or points, for cheaper (say £5?) and that is worth X amount points that could be traded for isks in the market once applied to the account.

Then the player buying use those points to buy all the goodies like skins etc.


I'll just leave this here like that, raw and uninterestingly written.

Pretty sure we already have exactly what you are describing in the form of the aurum packages purchasable through your account management page. Small purchases you can buy for $5 or so and convert to things you can sell on the market for ISK.

That's a bit pointless. The end result is the same as long as you grab the few aurum-purchasable items that other people actually buy with some consistency.

Also wrong forum for this thread, possibly. Probably should be in the suggestions subforum.

I wouldn't mind seeing a mini plex of sorts honestly. I think it would counter the inflation plex has seen over the years for a brief amount of time. If one is to believe that the price of plex has gone up because of the demand for it, then there might be opportunity to capitalize on a mini-plex commodity of some sort.

But then again, the value of something going up doesn't always mean there is more demand for said commodity. The price of things can go up for a multitude of reasons.

At the end of the day, it would depend on the market. I'd find it interesting to watch how it would unfold though.

Its not point because the person buying the package of aur for isks can spend them in whatever items he damn well want, or even market it again or whatever.

The only thing is it should be something that once applied to the account or pilot he can't be traded again.

At some point there were AURcoins available, but CCP stopped that.
I don't remember how they were obtained. I think I have 2x100 somewhere.

They can always be traded on the market,
but they can not be created anymore.

I forget the exact details ... it's been a while and wasn't that important.



So ... it was actually possible to trade AUR with other players directly,
but I forgot the reason they stopped that.


Aaaaand I believe they said numerous times that they want to get rid of PLEX eventually.

Thank you for not quoting my full post in your reply. I went ahead and fixed that for you here. I can really tell that you want a constructive discussion on this topic, and aren't just ignoring everyone whose replies don't fit your own opinion. /sarcasm

You know how else the person can buy "whatever he damn well wants"? By just buying the clothing items or skins on the market, from people who used the already existing pseudo-microtransaction system to make ISK. If you actually look at the market, it's easy to see what clothing sells and how to make a quick in-game buck if that's what you want. And the best part is that it doesn't even require the devs to spend time on something pointless!

Example:
Apparel items bought in the NEX store for aur
Ship skins bought in the NEX store for aur

Someone buys a £5 pack if aur, sells it in the market for isks to you, and you apply it to your pilot in orderr to get aur and spend it in the NEX store.

You could want to buy it as a way to add say, 15 days of multiple character training. It could be useful for those people who need their alt to train a 14 days skill but don't want to pay a full PLEX for it. Other than that though, it's kind of a "meh" idea.

I used to buy the really cheap trial upgrades that came with the Prototype Accelerators. That was a good cheap way to PLEX. Since they changed the upgrade packages though I think the cost went up too much.

No. This is a terrible idea and it's equally terrible now as it has been every other time someone has raised the issue - something you could have found out if you had bothered to use the search function.

If you need to buy something that costs less than a PLEX, then buy Aurum.

Instead of cheaper forms of PLEX, I propose more expensive subscription fees ($30 or 2 PLEX/month) for people who cannot use the search function to check for their idea before shiptoasting it onto the forums for us to discuss again.

CCP removed this option a few months ago.
I could sell you 10x 500 or 15x 1000 AUR tokens.

PLEX was never intended to be a micro-transaction.
PLEX was created before the concept of micro-transaction was invented.

For this to make sense:

PLEX $19.95 Adds 30 days, worth roughly 800 million isk.
MiniPLEX $10.95 Adds 15 days, worth roughly 400 million isk.

Could be a good idea, CCP ends up making some extra $ from the MiniPlex costing slightly more than 50% of a regular PLEX.

Been around since the beginning.
