Stop giving them your ISK and/or assets would be a start.

So you used the trade window? Don't do that. Contracts are a thing for a reason.

The only thing that could be done is preventing players from giving isk and assets to other players in any way except through market activity and contracts. That would break a lot of other non-scamming uses of those functions.

On you're end though, taking the time to learn how scammers make their money is worthwhile, because you'll learn the things to watch out for. General rules of thumb though are: if it's too good to be true, it is; if something can go badly for you, it will; if someone can find a way to get things from you for free, they'll try.

Dat thing is evil I tell you.

Altho, I did conduct a business deal involving a client who wanted to buy my BPCs for a stash of items that he had. As you know, blueprint copies can't be requested via WTB contracts, so we used the Trade window. Smile

Both of us commented afterwards that it was nerve wracking. Shocked

...

I'VE NEVER FELT SO ALIVE, TRADING WITH THE -=TRADE WINDOW=-. The thrill, the pressure and THE SUSPENSE of that Green Tick hanging over your livelihood... Items IN - IN - Heart PUMPING... Click ACCEPT.

Pray, DON'T look yet...

I don't understand: he sold YOUR ship under value and kept the money? Could you please provide more detail (how did you meet, why did you meet, why didn't you notice earlier? etc)

Learn from your mistakes. Using the trade window is fraught with risk.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

This is the crux of the matter. YES it was your fault. Even with this fact you then go on to accuse your client to be a scammer. It could have been an honest mistake. You might have reacted as you have on the forums. they decided to middle finger you. I know I would have.

As long as you "Learn" from the experience, then imo it was a good experience.

Scamming is strictly forbidden in EvE Online, a short Google search will provide multiple statements of the Devs to such effect.

I suggest a strongly worded petition to CCP who will surely return the ISK to you and deal most harshly with that scammer!
Such behavior must not be tolerated!

I never traded like that, so can someone enlighten me on how it can happen?

I put up an item for sale, he places his ISK. I see that amount is OK and press OK/Done/whatever, at which point he reduces the amount and completes the deal? if that is the case, then it is an inherently flawed system.

Or is it that the guy reduces the amount before I hit OK, and I, being lazy/greedy/not paying attention, press OK and thus get shafted? Well then it is completely my fault and I dont understand why I see so many complaints about it.

There's a chance of abusi g short lag to change the amount
and hit ACCEPT again.

It's always the victim's fault, though,
because not waiting a few seconds is what gets them scammed.

Im willing to take on the case for either party, but ill need to see some proof before I bring the case before the C&P Board of Inquiry.

Now, if you are unable to present the required proof, and youd wish to engage my services (which are highly coveted by the way) I will require a small retainer of 250mil ISK to begin investigation, and I charge 100mil ISK per hour. All services will be invoiced. Once my investigation of the incident is complete, which will include interviews with both parties, I will submit my findings and C&P will render judgment.

If you require references for my services, im sure any number of former clients will be happy to post here about their experiences.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?
