Zydrine, Megacyte and usage of information

EDIT: Thanks to the info posted a couple of replies below, I now know that the spike in interest was probably because of the Fanfest announced nullsec ore balancing. Thank you all for replies. Smile

I have tried to search for a post in F&I about increases in Zydrine and Megacyte usage, as announced in the latest o7 show, but the search did not return any result. If I've missed the info and the search results were bad, I apologize in advance for bringing up this topic.

With that said, the latest o7 show, broadcasted yesterday at 20:00 (http://evenews24.com/2015/04/01/the-o7-show-changes-new-stuff-and-pew-pew/) brought the announcement that Zydrine and Megacyte volumes used in manufacturing will be going up for about 50%.

That's all fine, it's a balancing thing and it's not my intention to discuss it. However, by looking at the market history graph I can see that someone has used this information on the 19th of March.

Here are the 3 month average prices for Zydrine and Megacyte . Since those are average prices, you'll need to go to Jita and open 1 Month graph to see the exact date of the spike (graphs are posted for illustration purposes here).

So, naturally, I have a question:

Is this spike in material usage known to the community before yesterday's o7 show?

If not, then there are a lot of other questions more suitable for petition system and CCP's internal affairs.

The change in usage wasn't known.

The fact that the Null ores were being adjusted was revealed at fanfest. With what was said there, it was obvious the balance was being adjusted in favor of the lowend minerals in the ores, to bring them more in line with the production curve.

Can't remember off the top of my head if the Yacht we all got needed those two to be built.....I think it did? Might have something to do with it. Everyone wanting to build the ship at the same time we make for a good time to profit on some minerals.

So the sudden interest in Zydrine and Megacyte could be about what was announced on Fanfest instead of material usage spike. Makes sense.

Yep, the first spike have been the clever guys that counted 1 and 1 together and then realized it must be a channge in Zyd and Mega that is in the works.

Yesterday was more or less a "GO BUY MEGA AND ZYD!" - command from Fozzie, that even the slowest viewers got (myself included).

I completely understand that some people are butthurt about not being able to make tens/hundreds of billions in a few minutes with little to no effort, but have some humility, will you?

Myself, and a few other prudent investors, traveled across the whole of Empire space far and wide: from Aridia to Devoid to get everything that wasn't nailed down around March 19-20th.

With that attitude, you'll miss the whole move and development in this historic change for Eve industry.

A quick search of the forums suggests the BP hit SiSi early March (see this dev post).

OP, in this particular case, CCP's Internal Affairs services don't appear to be needed.

I'm just legitimately curious here and don't know the answer: So let's say there are 300,000 subscribers to Eve. Each of them got a BPC for one yacht, so they each need 1000 Zydrine to make use of the BPC. There is now a universal demand for Zydrine at a singular moment where there wasn't before, and for the larger portion of players purchasing the Zydrine is going to be the preferable way of acquiring it. In theory, that doesn't increase the demand for Zydrine and subsequently the price?

The yacht requirements for the materials is utterly utterly insignificant to other needs for those materials in the grand scheme of things. You can ignore the yacht completely, it is a total red herring with regards to the prices.

All I'll say is that the Yacht is considered to be a cruiser hull, hence cruiser-like mineral build requirements. And yes, any new additional ships will influence demand of all build components that is used for their production. But as virm pasuul said, the effect of this particular ship is negligible.

An Armageddon uses upto 11k of Zydrine. With the current build bill of materials. Cool

Fanfest laid out Ore changes and hinted at certain mineral consumption increase.
o7 Show reiterated on coming Ore changes and confirmed the above hint with details being: Zydrine & Megacyte input doubling for most manufacturing.
