How many characters allowed in a corporation name?

Dont want to have to disband my corp / play with my corp history if i have to, but want to create a new corp name thats rather long.

Anyone know how many characters are allowed?

If the name will be too long, you will just probably fail to create a corp.

No one will come after you later, that your corp name is too long.

The name can be no more than 50 characters long.

The ticker can be no more than 5 characters.

Destiny always seems decades away, but suddenly it's not decades away; it's right now. But maybe destiny is always right now, right here, right this very instant, maybe.

100 characters for the name (including spaces) and 5 for the ticker.

100 ? Weird.

One year and a half ago, I created a corp with a 50-characters name, which I was told was the limit. The game refused the name as "too long" and I amputated one letter, so 49, spaces included.

Then, later on, I was mailed by a GM asking me if I would consider shortening the name some more. I declined, as it was a non-obligatory request, but I suppose they had their reasons to ask me so. So 49 is "too long" also I guess ?

A long name does boggle some of the game windows and menus.

(Edit: so my question is: is this 100 limit recent ?)

I stand corrected.

I didnt know it had changed. Honestly 100 characters is a bit overkill but apparently it was changed for good reason.

100 characters now ? maybe it's forward planning for all the extra dots being added at the end of corp names.

Can't remember seeing any that's 100 chars long yet, although given this thread it can't be long before there's a few of them.
