Intergalactic Summit

This thread was generated as a means of creating a consolidated theory base for the recent events of all unique events in relation to: Caroline's Star, Sleeper encroachment on Known Space, and Drifter encroachment on Known Space. This is in no way all of the theories that are abound, just those that I can recall being discussed in open channels among a multitude of scientists and independent researchers. Some may seem more of a reach than others.

I will edit this base post as more theories are shared, these are just the most prominent that I remember.

Caroline's Star and The Seyllin Incident

Theory that concerns the likeliness of similar occurrences between the events of Caroline's Star and The Seyllin Incident. It is known that the Seyllin Incident brought on, at least in coincidence of date and time, a surge of generated wormholes throughout New Eden. This, in turn, is why we know of the Sleepers to begin with and the resulting cascade of events between our races.

It stands to reason that given the nature of the Seyllin Incident and it's generated outcome, that a similar circumstance occurred with Caroline's Star in the (believed) W477-P system and the recent generated of Unidentified Wormholes with which Drifters and Sleepers alike have been pouring from as a source across the galaxy. The details of which are left mostly to bounding sub-theories including celestial events such as Supernovae and the probability that the star in the W477-P System (a K5 Red Giant) could have had such a profound, violent end within the application of a foreign hand in some manner.

Another question that has been prominent is how everyone in New Eden managed to see the events of Caroline's Star in such gross detail from any location in the galaxy in such a short amount of time and was the primary topic for some duration, though theories seemed mixed from my standpoint.



It stands to reason that the Observation Posts which have recently de-cloaked throughout the galaxy are in some way connected to the surge of new, Unidentified Wormholes that are being used by the Drifters. With each, there are Sleeper Constructs on either side of the Wormhole. Because of this there is a theory that the Observation Posts and the Sleeper Constructs are part of a "lock/key" mechanism, respectively. Though the exact details are unknown, we can assume that either construct is part of the mechanism and that the wormhole is the door with which that mechanism is utilized.

What is known is that the Drifters seem fondly interested in the Observation Posts, even prior to the opening of the unidentified wormholes and the harvesting of bodies, as the Circadian Seekers would scan these structures. It stands to reason that, given the difference in architecture and fundamental function of the two structures therein, that the Sleepers and Drifters could not have opened the wormholes without the Observation Posts for either a technological reason (in the eventuality that they simply found the technology on the structure) or a logistical reason (in the eventuality that they had the technology but no 'anchor' for the wormhole to be generated, much like a cyno event). This theory is further backed by the finding of devices of (assumed) Jove design in the cargo holds of destroyed Sleeper ships.



Some discussion was given toward the Sleeper salvage (Cartesian Temporal Coordinator) designed to plot various points in time across a potentially infinite period. The parts pulled from Sleepers however are geared toward synchronization of its processing speed in time with the distance traveled between two points.

If the theory stands that with the addition of a few other components, it would allow electronics systems to more easily withstand the interference from subspace distortion, it stands to reason that Sleeper Drones are capable of generating their own wormholes - that they have the technology to accomplish this already. This is backed by the Jump Drive Control Nexus parts that are salvaged from the Sleepers as well.

It stands to reason that there may be some connection between these salvaged parts and why the Sleepers seem intent on collecting the Antikythera Elements.




Many theories about the motives are brought up but without real evidence we can only guess. Such theories include (but surely not limited to): Revenge for the reaping of Sleeper Implants for the use of Infantry Clone technology (and subsequent rumored identity crisis with many original clones going insane and painting '514' all over the walls in their own blood), prevention of Capsuleer expansion, Sansha forces agitation (brought on by an apparent incursion in their space), etc.

Theories as to their motives will be added here as they arise.

As brought up by Rinai Vero, it's also important that we address what their objectives are and what they plan to do about those motives.



Possibly the most profound theory, though I felt it needed mentioning as there's currently no way to prove that it isn't true, is that we are, in fact, The Sleepers and that our world is simply a VR. The details on this get sketchy as the conversation persists but there is no legitimate way to prove against it and as such, remains a viable (if improbable) theory.

There are set laws of physics and everyone, disregarding how smart or strong you are, obey these laws. They define everything around us, like the light can't go faster than its speed and an event happened in one solar system will become visible in other systems in different time, depending on distance between the event and observer... unless...
Unless it was a divine event, set in violation of known laws by His Will.
