Having installed the umpteenth "client upgrade", I'm starting to see the advantages of such a launcher...

Have they said if the launcher will be optional? I've used them in a number of other games and always found them to be annoying.

Last news was that players thought it would be annoying that it adds another unnecessary step to logging in, especially when you need to log in fast like after a crash or etc, so the dev responsible is going to work on stuff like making it only pop up when needed or something.

Personally, I'm not sure how it would improve my gameplay experience even a little bit, but I can see quite a few ways on how it would make it worse. You want to run EVE? Click the damned icon and run EVE. Not sure how adding steps improves on the experience.
