You come home to a very cute Kitten on your kitchen table. On the table next to it is a rusty boxcutter and a bag of kitty treats.

Well depends on whether the treats are mostly meat based. Cats guts don't process veg protein too well. Lol

Anyway my cat like to wake me up real early every morning, by licking my face. She doesn't have the sweetest breath and then expects me to rise and feed her. Of course I do, cause she's so sweet. Oops

You see what I mean? Its like... like the hate clouds the air around us. Constantly there, always lingering. I can feel it everytime I enter these forums. Its like you can do nothing but hate while you're here.

It is not hate as much as it is fear - fear for what will happen with EVE if CCP listen too much to all the carebear whine about suicide ganking and non-consensual PvP.

Fear that they'd have to pvp against actual pvpers? Couldn't they just suck it up and grow moar skills so they could actually compete with someone not decked out in mining modules? I mean that's just what id do, not tying to force my opinion on anyone you know? But when I think of pvp I think of two players.. actually vsing.. but I guess I understand. I mean the risk of those tech 2 mining modules, now that's a rush! Don't wanna go up against one of those anytime soon

The nerfs have knock on effects that filter down to everyone, so everybody who likes to play the game properly has good cause to be unhappy when the bleating carebears get their way.

ROFL.....seriously. Thanks for sayin'.

I actually read through page (post) 5 of the, what, 14 posted pages ? MOST EPIC QQ RANT EVER !!

'Twas truly incredible.

Perhaps this exerpt from Neal Stephenson's new novel "REAMDE" (yes, the Title is a deliberate typo, and YES it's about an MMO called T'Rain) points to a direction:

"Dale and his friends, living in a world where where libraries were already stuffed with millions of novels that would never be read again, where any movie or televison program ever filmed could be downloaded and viewed, simply did not have the bandwidth to absorb a vast amount of detailed background material about fictitious races on a made up planet. They just wanted to kick a**."

Hatred - are nourishing my body as my warrior soul comes to life! Hatred - are feeding my mind as I watch our people die! Hatred - is the essence of survival, we need it to save our kind! Hatred! Don’t be scared, hatred is our friend!

Especially that guy that tried to do a psycho analysis on "the high seccer" like what's up with him? Oh somebody enjoys different things than me!? There must be something severely wrong with them!! Like really? I bet he ***** himself when he finds out someone has different musical taste than he does.

And then all the hate for like every other mmo out there. Gamers hating on gamers for playing a different game than the game that they play. That's about as sad as it gets right there. What's the reason for the attitude that most of the community seems to have?

If you want a serious answer then it probably goes something like this:

Civilisation is a thin veneer. People live a façade. When you give them anonymity and no real concequences, they can then segregate themselves into groups to be as barbaric and cruel as their inner twisted little selves really want to be.
That or their lives suck and they want to take it out on others, lacking a real way to express themselves they come on here and disassociate themselves from their characters, getting a feeling of pleasure and relief after making someone else's life as miserable as they can.

Rage against the machine, dude! Your 1s and 0s they can change the world!

(How it accomplishes or fixes anything in their real lives I don't know but then they do tend to have a certain type of personality to begin with. ) What?

CCP - Building ant hills and magnifying glasses for fat kids

Not even once

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

You hinted on it in your OP.

If you don't play Eve the way I play Eve, you fail and shouldn't be breathing. For lolz.

i.e. I love big ships. But I hate small ships. Thus, I hate sub cap pilots who love dramiels and cane blobs.

I also love isk, and therefore hate hobos who have none.

If hobos had to be sacrificed to appease my sense of security and awesomeness in Eve, then well... that is a sacrifice I'm prepared to live with.

Eve is about Capital ships, WiS, Boobs, PI and Isk!

In the hopes of contibuting something a bit more constructive to this thread...

The advice I would give to stop some of the hate is just to not take things for granted. I've seen this in so many games, where in the beginning, people are just happy to be playing the game, however it's been designed, with no expectations. (EVE on release was nowhere near as good as it is now, but what do you know, there's more complainers and haters now.)

Then, people start making impatient demands on the developer to implement new features.

Then, people start getting angry whenever anything is "changed" regardless whether it's an improvement or not.

Then you have a group of vocal, self-entitled elitists who believe a game developer owes them something.

Pretty soon you have a large part of your playerbase constantly complaining about how things should be, how they messed it up, how they've sold out, how things were better "back in my day..." etc.

Then it's only a matter of time before a game loses it's magic.

See World of Warcraft, and the cesspool of negativity it has become. Hell, even mentioning the game probably is going to make the the target of hate, from aforementioned elitists.

Diablo 3 is also getting flamed horrifically, because people have EXPECTATIONS, and aren't satisfied with anything less than a personally-tailored game, and feel entitled to this like they don't have a decision on whether to buy the game or not.

When I install a game that's been out since 2003 and take a look around, I'm amazed at how blind some of the vets are to the game they are playing, and amazed that they can find so many things to complain about in such a great game.

TL;DR Expectations screw things up. Big smile
