Drones do not auto engage players.

Some say it is a bug. Its been this way since they fixed the MTU exploit to flag people.

*EDIT* Only tested in High Sec, your safety settings doesn't matter.

Drones will infact auto enage players..... You just need to set your safety to red... Maybe if you got out of your mission boat in highsec and actually tried to pvp, you would know this.. SAFETY OFF DRONES WILL AGRESS> CCP patched the drones agressing players who attacked your MTU even if you had your safety to green. Try it on sisi if you must...

Wait, you are telling me there are people who don't fly with safety set to red?

Are you sure about that? I tried to set safety to red, but drones didn't seem to agro.

This is intentional, due to old-AI drones tagging onto anything red, which meant that if a ganker could get flagged to them and wait, they'd attack him and flag you to him without you actually wanting to engage.

In terms of suicide gankers, there's a one to three second turnaround on giving your drones a command before they even start doing it. Anyone suiciding you that hasn't killed you by then has been CONCORDed at that point anyhow.
