So since this game requires a certain amount of aptitude and intelligence to really m̶a̶n̶i̶p̶u̶l̶a̶t̶e̶ play with others. I was wondering if the average IQ of the EVE player base is higher than other game's playerbase.

Maybe the casuals since intelligent people tend to use their time increasing their thinking ability rather than stunting it by living in an MMO. Also compared to other games, I doubt that as well. Gamers have a certain mindset, not a certain intelligence.

I'd guess most gamers are pretty equal in intelligence across the entire MMO spectrum.

It's either 42, or over 9000.

I agree with epeen.

Its not intelligence but the seat time. Im sure the most intelligent person in the world can come in EVE or any game in that matter and act like a total moron until he or she have acquired the experience needed.

Seat time first, the intelligence comes later for the fine tuning process.

I also hear a thread lock creeping through the woods.......i heard leaves crunching.

Hmm mabey it was just the wind.

Destiny always seems decades away, but suddenly it's not decades away; it's right now. But maybe destiny is always right now, right here, right this very instant, maybe.

You wouldn't have needed to fix that if he had a higher IQ.

you can't measure intelligence reliably

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

I have noticed quite a few people without the intelligence or socials skills to succeed but their egos prevent them from quitting.
Social skills > intelligence in EVE.

from how much eve players drink I'd guess there is a downward trend on the number in the long run.

But you can reliably measure stupidity. Well, actually we can't, but we can put an upper boundary on stupidity, namely the Darwin Award point.

I don't think its really about IQ. Eve is based on simple mechanics that just take time to master. Those who play beyond their first encounter are merely more patient than others.

What should be measured is which side of the psychopath / sociopath scale and to what degree each Eve player lands on.

by staying inside and expressing stupidity through Eve Online, and rather than in a more natural environment with dangerous things, where premature death is more likely, the chances of reproduction well, make your own joke. Either way we may have put humanity on a dangerous path.

Given that the average age of EVE players is in '30-ish something (cant find the reference,) maybe EVE players seem smarter by dint of maturity, experience and having careers.
