Heat Mitigation Stuff

This is another one of my... "would anyone like to see?" topics. Not saying "I think there should be...!"

How about a module type for reducing heat damage? Could be a low slot, like a weapon upgrade. Could also be a targeted "coolant injector" or something, that you apply to friendlies to reduce heat and/or heat damage accumulation. How about both?

A set of rigs that reduce heat/module damage?

And finally, how about a new ship that supports the fleet by reducing heat damage? Possibly with range/effectiveness bonus to the new targeted "coolant injector" mod described above.

or...

I was also thinking about AOE cooling effects. A "cold bubble" if you will. This would mean turning it on in a brawl would also be helping the enemy.

Do we want things like this? Or do we think overheating is powerful enough, and there shouldn't be any ways to stop/slow burning out?

In before totally invulnerable Deep space transport fleet ^^

In the name of Jirai 'Fatal' Laitanen : “Some capsuleers claim that ECM is 'dishonorable' and 'unfair'. Jam those ones first, and kill them last.”

considering skills reduce heat damage 25% and certain ships reduce it another 25% *cough* t3 ships *cough* don't you see this a more problematic and exacerbates the problem of some OP ships?

I don't follow...

What are you talking about? Do Deep Space Transports use overheating a lot? Do these ideas make deep space transports invulnerable somehow? Maybe there's something I just don't know about...

lol @ curtain ships.

But yea, I wasn't really considering T3's heat bonus. I think T3s are stupidly overpowered, and stupid additions to the game, but their overheat bonus is not the reason I think that. If anything, I'd say nerf most of their other stats, but leave their overheat abilities.

So yea, something like these ideas could be troublesome for balance when it comes to T3s, but not game-breaking. I'm sure a balance could be found.

I too want a proteus that can achieve over the current -75% to heat damage we have now. Twisted

Vote Vic Jefferson for CSM X.....XI.....XII?

Cool, but... 100% bonus to BENEFITS of overheating... nothing to do with heat, heat damage, or burning out. So these ideas wouldn't make DSTs any more resistant to heat damage than normal ships.

Even if you fit a DST with pure "coolant" rigs, fill the lows with "cooling" mods, and have a fleet of 50 of the new "coolant" logi ships following it around giving it constant Remote Coolant... the DST doesn't become "totally invulnerable".

Let's say all that would allow a DST to overheat forever without burning out... still not "invulnerable". It's still only as good as it was before, it just can't burn out modules.

The only reason I can think of for not having this, is if everyone just agrees that Overheating is strong enough that allowing more of it would be a bad thing.

All this would do would make it so every mod created more heat as they are currently balanced to have minimum heat at thermo V

yes odds are you could get less heat than current with a few mods but you would definitely get more heat then current with out them.

Overheated ASBs. Several of them, with 80KM3 of boosters.
