Feeding a Drifter

When I first saw the recent Scope news report, detailing how capsuleer Draven Ozran has his escape pod destroyed and his corpse 'collected', I wondered how Drifters would respond to have corpses presented to them. So, in the name of science, I loaded with a Caldari shuttle with five random corpses from my collection, and set out to a near by system containing both a Jove Observatory and an Unidentified Wormhole.

I approached the Jove Observatory first, but saw no Drifters present. I then warped to the Unidentified Wormhole, where I met the Drifter Apollo Tyrannos. I promptly jettisoned a corpse from my cargo hold, and waited. Apollo, however, was in no mood for corpses, and ignored me, warping to the Jove Observatory shortly after I arrived. Undeterred, I followed.

After reaching the Observatory, I promptly jettisoned another corpse from my hold. This time Apollo was interested. He immediately approached the corpse and 'collected' it, before turning his attentions back to the Observatory. Elated, I jettisoned the three remaining corpses from my hold. Apollo turned from the Observatory, and came back to 'collect' another corpse. He, however, ignored the other two I had left out for him. Intrigued, I scooped one of the two remaining corpses back into my hold. Again, Apollo turned from his task, and came back to me to 'collect' the newly jettisoned corpse, but ignored the one I had left in space for him. Just to be sure, I scooped up the last corpse and jettisoned it again. Apollo came back faithfully to collect this last corpse.

At this point I returned to the Unidentified Wormhole. Based on other capsuleer reports, I knew once Apollo had finished with his task at the Jove Observatory, he would return to the Unidentified Wormhole. Also, at this point I had only seen him 'collect' corpses at the Jove Observatory, and I wanted to see if he would 'collect' at the wormhole, and if he would 'collect' a corpse that had been left for him, or if he was only interested in freshly jettisoned corpses. I scooped up the corpse I had first left for him, which he had previously ignored, positioned myself closer to the Unidentified Wormhole, jettisoned the corpse again, and waited. Sure enough, as soon as Apollo arrived at the Unidentified Wormhole, he 'collected' the corpse and went on to approach the Unidentified Wormhole. At this point I wished I had another corpse on me, to see if he would turn back from the Wormhole to 'collect' it. Still, I considered my efforts to be a success, and promptly returned home base to compile this report.

At no point was I targeted by Apollo Tyrannos. In fact, despite having to come close enough to my shuttle to bump it in order to 'collect' the offered corpse, I was completely ignored. I have included a Galnet link to some images collected during this experiment.

I thank you for your time.

I appreciate your dedication to researching the Drifter threat.

Contrary to the Scope report a valiant corp mate was able to rescue my corpse in Saminer before Apollo was able to snatch it. He lost his ship in the process but my frozen corpse is sitting securely in station.

It seems there is some kind of lack of communication on CONCORDS part seeing an advanced ship take an outdated clone.

I have yet to garner a complaint about my hands being on anyone's body. Request denied.

I'm away from space at the moment, but has anyone tried feeding them slaves?

If you want to volunteer your stock, I'll deliver them personally.

I would bet that every other Faithful and even heretic Nauplius would agree, that you delivering them just empty shuttle while piloting it, would be quite enough.

Zateki: Dead.

Funk: Fled.

Borkstar: Captured and enslaved.

See a pattern here?
