Dude, as a matter of fact, I don't advice you to discuss fantasies. Drifters can't exit their system, period, as that limits abuse. Want a fantasy reason? They're soldiers of a tyrannic commander and they would never do anything not commanded to them, so when they're commanded to go system X they stay in system X.

Oh boy, nothing like the exciting life of being locked into one system! And in this proposal, why would anyone bother to go for the Drifter route again after their first time dumps them out in some backwater system with zero traffic. They can't pew anyone with their shiny new toy, and they decide it sucks and never do it again. Wanting to prevent abuse is great and all, but limiting them to one system is just awful and could prevent most from ever enjoying it.

Somehow I don't think it's that bad idea I think some of more obvious loopholes can be covered by limit of possible drifters at same time, inability to join fleet or communicate alteast over chat with not drifters and death after some period of time if player can't provide enough tags, also players mini doomsday must be much weaker then npc one, overall I like the idea but needs much more polish

You could just jump back home and use the wormhole again, hoping for a better target system in your next round. Obviously with a cooldwon timer to keep the player committed to the destination even if it's a "hot" zone and prevent continuous going in and out of the Drifter-wormhole.

That sounds much better, I must have missed the ability to go back and re-roll your destination system.

So, there's a new video by The Scope on drifters dismantling Jove observatories and taking stuff away... why oh why it's just NPCs who have the fun?

You can go after the Drifters...

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

-1

Re-read it all still -1.

Then read it a third time to be sure I did not miss something critical and still -1.

Making drifters an option to choose when you create a character would be OK if it was balanced properly.

Other wise this falls into the general category of no to players controlling any form of NPC ship or other assets just as I say no to an NPC controlling any form of player owned assets.

In this sepcific case, if you put enough limits on what you can and cannot do as a drifter to prevent abuses then it would quickly become extremely boring.

If this becomes reality, I see big powerblocks becomming drifters to gank the living **** out of everyone but themselves

TL;DR
No because: Power Projection

Read carefully: Drifters are locked in the system where they spawn as they can not use Empirean interstellar technology (i.e. gates, bridges) and can't scan down wormholes as their ships can't be fitted. Also they can't fleet up with players, nor can access any resources they had as players (including bookmarks). They only can move back home and roll a different random system.
