Is highly invading our privacy and should not be available?

It is extremely easy to track people and their alts, and who they have dealt with in the past, and what kind of business they are into in this game just by taking a look at their past contracts.

I truly believe this information should not be available to the public at their disposal like it is.

I don't presume to be anywhere near important enough that someone would bother to track me.

Being a nobody provides plenty of security all on it's own.

It's the kind of thing you get when the devs also play. They include stuff like this for their own purposes, then tell us we have to deal with it as though it's some visionary digital creation we just don't grasp. Conflict of interest drives much of EVE's "ideas."

The right to free speech doesn't automatically carry with it the right to be taken seriously.

Courriers need it to see what percentage of fails are in the history. It's pretty important for weeding out scammers and gankers.

If you are worried about alts, either can drop in space or station trade.

However, it might not be a bad idea to make the history erasable along with everything else associated with the character on a character transfer. For the many billions the buyer is shelling out, he should at least have a clean character with as little baggage from the former owner as possible.

You heard the man. Improve Mr. Epeen's merchandise.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

Some say that self interest should be one's only interest.

As far as I know you can only view other people's public contracts. Do you really use public contracts to trade with your alts?

Some of my contracts are actually gone, and some are messed up. The ones from before that database upgrade, Kind of like all the kill mails before they got upgraded from text only, except none of the kill mails are gone.

What are you complaining about by the way?

Quote:
You are not allowed to view contracts by others than yourself or your corporation that are currently in progress or outstanding.

Once a contract is finished however, they are generally public.
An exception to this is when a contract is issued to a specific character, corporation or alliance. In these cases you will not see the contract in the contract history unless you are one of the persons participating in the contract or a member of the corporation or alliance, respectively.
It does not matter in this regard whether the contract was accepted by a character or a corporation, only to which entity it was originally issued to (who was allowed to view it when it was created).

Who cares if publicly available contracts remain publicly viewable, the private contracts are not public and never are.

1. It is, in no way or form, your privacy.
2. Public contracts are public by definition. (you're welcome)
3. Private contracts can not be seen by regular means.

You own nothing in EVE, therefor privacy does not exist. All you do or say
is represented digitally on CCPs servers. Nothing of it, not even the account, is yours.

Sheesh ...

As it is highly unlikely that people trade with their alts using public contracts (=viewable and acceptable by everyone) and as such it is equally unlikely you or anyone else can track alts from someone using the publicly viewable Finished Contract list, this is a non-issue.

Therefore, thread locked.
