Hi

So yea i wanted to gank some scanners in their Astero inside a Relic site..

I scanned down the signature, warp'd to the site to check if it was made, jump'd one system to pick up my pilgrim and back in the relic site..

But then the signature despawns even though i didnt do the cans..!

Is this suppose to be game mechanics !?

The eve wiki is really weak with info on this subject

Somebody else went in and hacked it while you were gone to get the Pilgrim?

A good explorer knows that gankers will hit a site ahead of time.

The Astero pilot may well have expected this, didn't make assumptions, and was able to hack the cans during the time it took to get another ship. An Astero can do that.

Yet everybody still says that "PVP" only involves guns and killmails. Too bad there's no way to record this kind of victory (getting what you want without firing a shot and/or losing a ship).

What?

OP seems like you came up against an explorer who knew how to handle the situation.

Oh. Gee. Was I supposed to wait there for him to gank me? My bad! Shocked

Or one that was so oblivious to the situation that he wet full Roadrunner and just totally roboscanned it, hacked it, looted it, and went on his way while OP went all Wiley Coyote, and missed the kill because his rocket went off backwards or some ****.

It takes like... 2-3 minutes, to hack a site.

Aren't you supposed to scan with the ship you're using to shoot?

No, of course not. That doesn't even make sense.

Of course it's *doable*, but it's not really *sensible to do*.

I do not understand how that "doesn't make sense."

Are exploration Frigates really so scary that you can't afford to take out a Stratios?

I remember you as a hater, who has a rather bad attitude toward *the people* who play gankers.

Thus I refuse to converse with you about this topic.

In any case can I deduct that you do seem to lack understanding of ship fittings
and how a fitting usually is "fit for a job", because that's effective.

Also: Your hate, superiority issues and true face shows. Bye.

Boy some swifties in this thread!

You scan down site and then stealth and wait to gank. In the same ship you scanned with. Is that so hard? "Wait here while I go change ships please."

If you leave, there is a chance that someone comes and hacks site. No gank.

You come back...no site. (They despawn one hour after first visit, whether by you or someone else.)

And I am no hater, just don't like ignorant folks who don't know of what they speak.

I've found archaeology sites that are anomalies (not needing to be scanned) around Osmon and if you warp to them then leave and go back it will despawn the hackable structures even though they hadn't been hacked.

I've had a couple of moments, particularly in low (edit) sec exploration where I've managed to warp out of hairy situations giggling. It would be nice to be able to share those moments, but to be honest the sheer high you feel with getting away is awesome on it's own. Big smile

Edit: for low sec, not null.

Archaeology anomalies now? Cool. No need for probes.

Those are "lesser research labs" or something like that. If you warp in a timer starts and you must complete hacking all the cans within the given period. If you fail to do it in time some hostile npc cruisers spawn or/and the containers explode.

This is not correct. They despawn an hour or so after the first hack attempt, whether succesful or not (note that the can will remain and appear full after a single failed hack.) you can visit and warp out as much as you want, as long as you don't touch the cans.
