I am toying with the idea of putting this toon into Faction Warfare, just for s**ts and giggles and I hear the ISK is good there too.

I know zero about FW though although I know I would join Caldari or Amarrian so I don't trash my sec status for that area of space where everyone I know tends to live. This is this character training is a bit on the low side, is there generally a minimum level of SP needed for FW and if so what sort of areas should I be dedicating my training plan too?

You can join FW with very little SP. Just join a good corp that you can fleet up with. All you really need are good skills to fly a t1 frig.
