Why only 5 overview tabs CCP?

As title reads. Why is there a limit of 5 Overview tabs?

drones
tactical 1 - ships
tactical 2 - structures

The latter three are by default on those settings, but I often have to change them as needs arise so I load up other presets on them and leave the first two alone since they're almost always needed.

I honestly don't know why we can't have a few more tabs. Mozilla firefox gives me as many tabs as I like, just shrinks each tab down if the full size tab doesn't fit across the bar. Is there a legitimate reason why we are limited to just five? I still have room on that bar for more tabs.

Let's discuss overhauling the way we get intel in EvE.

will you be using pve while pvping, doubt it, so that can be removed = 7, do you need logi when your not actually a logi pilot? doubt it so close that one = 6, will you need mining when your doing pvp? probably not so just close that too = 5

you just need to be a bit more efficient in what your using for what situation

ofcourse it is, right click on the tab and load preset, not exactly hard my overview has around 50-60 different presets

Here's a few that would be quite useful in PVP, example is flying DPS in fleet:

1) travel - stargates & stations only

2) enemies only, brackets without drones

3) enemies only, drones in brackets

4) drones only

5) enemy cruisers & above only

6) caps only

7) enemy tackle only

8) enemy + friendlies, cruisers and above only

9) etc. etc.

X) pod saver


It's funny how people go to great lengths to defend the status quo (5-tab limit), even when it's obviously just a limit and removing it would make at least some people happy to have more stuff to play around with.

Yup, you can set up saved presets and just load the presets into the tabs as needed; it's not ideal but it's a decent workaround.

What I'd like to see is the option to right-click an item (for example, T3 destroyers) and add it to all presets. Because every time they add a ship or whatever, I have to load each preset, checkbox the ship they added, then save the preset again.

I think I've got around 30 presets, with 5 that I stick to regularly and then the others for special situations. I barely notice changing out one of my tabs.

Should be seven, then - no-one questions a completely arbitary limit if it's a power of two minus one. :-)

Sure, if everybody were a F1 monkey, you wouldn't even need an Overview at all - Fleet broadcast window would be more than enough.
