It doesn't matter. In a few months C1 and C2 holes will be empty of any kind of structures. Those 4.3 thousand poses in C1 and C2 will be gone.

uh?

All offline pos's will be removed and rembursed to the owners when new pos's happen.

I am Winthorp you might remember me from such films as i got CCP to make signature ID's persistent through DT for their love of AU bros.

Indeed. My plan for transitioning to the new theft-box structures (aka vulnerable space hobbit shipping containers) is to,

Option A, if POSs do prove vulnerable to attack and do not have AI guns to defend themselves;
I move my ships out prior to the patch, with the bubble up and lights on, and automagically everything will teleport into my corporation wallet

Option B, if POSs get actual guns and aren't vulnerable to bored dweebs with 10 minutes spare time;
Set up a new POS replacement at some seriously deep safes, move my ships there, and leave my existing POSs online with the lights on and fuel in them, and have everything automagically teleport itself into my wallet.

Why would ANYONE bother unanchoring anything at all?

no, but the most offline POSses are found in low-class wormholes.
The higher the class, the less offline POS you will find, unless they belong to the corp living there and to maybe occupy all moons (if they only have a few one).

Bald claim, especially factoring in the fact how few lowends do not have at least one active FF in them, how a farmingtower in a c5/6 is worth less than you´d make in the time needed to unanchor it and how many more C1-4s are there than C5/6s.

Not only that.

I'm doing a wild guess here. But I assume that you can only fit medium or at most large sized new structures into smaller wormholes. So with no defenses to write home about and trollceptors being able to destroy those in a few minutes you will have to babysit these structures for four hours every frigging day, with entosis "warfare" applying to those. Only the most daft persons would deploy anything valuable in low class. People able to babysit their structure most likely will chose higher class wormholes as it will be difficult to entertain the groups required for defense in low class whs.

Also not only offline poses will be removed. I quote:

"It is obvious such changes will not come in one release, nor that we are going to alter or remove existing structures without prior and sufficient warning.

As such our plan is to:
• Progressively cut functionalities from existing structures. This would match new structures arrival that provide an overlapping gameplay. For instance, deploying the new Assembly Arrays would cause existing Starbases and Outposts to lose their manufacturing bonuses at first, then their manufacturing capability.
• Give ample time for players to evacuate their assets from existing structures and adapt to the changes."

According to the graph poses will be removed after grace period 2a.

Why do you think they wont have defenses? The new structures are going to be more defendable than current, with the ability of having much powerful, and numerous defences tacked on. They are modular, and build-able, such that in exchange for more fuel theyll be able to have more piled onto them then current.

I dont think your going to see trollceptor fleets running through WHs taking peoples structures down. not unless they didn't bother to toss some def up

I know that you may fit defences on the new structures. Unfortunately those require you to be online and defend your structure in person. Something I won't be able to do for four hours every day. So when you are not there those huge piles of metal might as well have no defenses at all.

Let me disagree with this whole line of thinking. CCP specifically mentioned the structure defense AI being too weak. Now, I may be reading into that statement, but it seems to me they intend to buff the AI behind "POS" gunning or whatever that becomes. I am certainly making much less of a leap than some statements in this thread. Personally, I see structures of being much more capable of automated defense when all this finally hits TQ...

There's a 4th graph that goes with these that I'm hoping they will release soon. The other nice thing is now that they have done this once its really easy for them to do teh same graphs in 6 months or a year, if they will publish them is another thing.

The structure stuff people are really leaping to alot of conclusions. I'll be sorting a sounding board on both structure and roles in the near future.

regarding pos's to defend a system, they know all about this and have some pretty good numbers from all the pos questionaires i sent out on just how many people use full moon coverage as a defence (it was about 50%) so its not likely to be ignored.

In regards to pos defence its also worth noting most ships have had alot of buffs since they have come out while pos guns havent had any, and they know how under powered these things are.
