When would you choose a Vargur over a Mach for PvE?

EFT makes it look like the Mach has more DPS, and of course a lot more speed.

Not everyone wants to play the same way?

Vargur can tank more and apply its DPS better, EWAR immunity, and can salvage as it runs missions.

I didn't mean for the question to come across as a troll.

I recently got a Mach and I'm trying to figure out if a Vargur should be my next ship.
Would it replace the Mach, be used in conjunction with the Mach for particular missions, applicable with a salvaging alt, etc.?

For missions I would stick with Mach. The tank bonus of the vargur in PvE will only come in in high end sigs/escalations.

Edit: specifically, for missions the Mach will probably be faster. However, if you get butterflies from salvaging and it brings you joy like no other you may consider the vargur. For missions they are both solo beasts.

But solo c5 marauding is where the vargur shines

Funny, I've had a lot of luck doing escalations in a golem. Guess I'm doing it wrong even though I clear the sites quickly and haven't lost one yet, huh?

Perhaps there are. For K-space sigs and escalations (where I should have clarified I guess...?) vargur is pretty awesome.

I just fly a Mach. better warp speed, better agility, better speed, better dps. When I want a marauder I usually fly a paladin, although you might want to change that depending on what space you fly in.

Marauder is for when you need the tank, things that come into mind:

Soloing C5 combat anoms
10/10s
HQ anchor


If you're just doing level 4 missions, stick with the mach

I lost a mach worth 2bil in a lv 4, it sucks

The answer will disappoint you - when internet connection sucks. If it's not, you just use mach. And if it doesn't work, you just arm second mach and take it for a spin.
I believe I saw someone using two different machs at the same time, one AC and one arty.

Not the mach's fault I can assure you.. my indy alt with lvl 3 bs and meta 4 guns does just fine in a mach.
Varg as mentioned is best if there is lots of ewar...and you feeling lazy.

How do you deal with NPC ewar? I have tried regular BS once.... Got damped to no-lock and then switched to Marauder.

Vargurs are beasts in low sec. They make stunning level 5 or high DED site runners. You could take a mach to these and then you'd be finding out why the ewar immunity is an absolute must have.

In high sec, well I guess go attack angels, take a mach. Win eve?
