There's a great feature implemented in to reality itself that I think you should try out, OP. It's called ignoring things. It even works on people, bills and the law. Though I wouldn't advise going too crazy with it.

well even people with IQ below 100 have opinions.
The way they chose to represent such could differ, but i highly doubt its an question of intelligence.

If you wish to discuss with high intelligent people there are societies for this. And quite frankly EVE forum is not one of them.

I don't think they do. I think they got their opinions from someone else and then ran them through a blender before serving them to us.

Well thats an question.. What is opinion, and how it is created.
Can you create something from nothing ? I doubt it. You just hear/read things, the whole personality is created, all the moral and ethics follows... We are not special snowflakes.

You absorb information, ideas, you take them and put them together and form an opinion. I think that's how it's supposed to work and you don't have to be unique to do it.

Yes that is how it works. You get information, you thought it out.. but whats the process used to do so, you compare with other stuff understanding as well as adapting is all based on how well you can adapt new information and change "your" idea, which is not yours, unless you use some hallucinogenic drugs for that matter Big smile

These forums as well as plenty of other forums provides just place for people to say question, not asking them, to say opinons, not asking for discussion.

Difference is if you ask, you expect to learn something
If you say, well you just keep saying and no ammount of logic can change what you say.

It even works on reality. The whole modern American system of democracy actually depends on it.

I think it's a good idea. I think you'd be surprised how few people it would eliminate though.

by experience there are only few examples which does not require some additional "input" those so far are physical pain, feel free to add more

Everyone does indeed use the information around them to form opinions, but here's the thing. Those individual pieces of information, whether they be the thoughts and opinions of others, or just what you see around you, they don't form themselves into a new opinion. Every individual determines what to do with that information themselves and what they do with it is what separates the intelligent from the... less fortunate..

Take two people, ask them to read exactly the same thing and come up with an opinion on it, something that neither of them could've ever been influenced on their whole life. Well by your logic they should come to the same conclusion right? Wrong, because the thing that forms all of that information together is you, and your brain is different than any other persons. Even when all the information is the same, the two people will be different, and therefore they will think differently.

If it was all decided by the things that we see and hear others do, conjoined twins would be nearly identical. They see, do, and hear everything the same from birth, and yet you can still see that they are individuals. But why? I mean, according to you there is no such thing as intelligence, as everything is decided by external factors. All brains are the same, and will handle that information in exactly the same way, but that's just wrong.

Yes, you rely on information, but what you do with that information is up to you, an individual, and that's what makes your opinion, your personality and everything about you unique.

It's not the experiences, it's what you do with them.

So yes, I'm a snowflake.

No matter how identical two peoples lives are, they will never be the same person.

I would just 'instance' the forums, so that people in xx category can only see their 'level'
Think matchmaking but for eve forums online.

If they were blizzard they'd probably want to add a subscription fee to it though...

So in my few weeks of playing Eve, I've noticed one thing. For a game with such complex mechanics, a game reserved for only those gamers who's cognitive ability is only rivaled by that of the likes of Einstein himself,(at least that's what most of the playerbase seems to think) there sure is a lot of stupid on these forums.

Now, the ability to block players would cut down on a lot of stupid, but so far I've found no such ability and besides that you could never filter it all with just blocking. So what I propose is this.

CCP implement a type of intelligence test for the forums. Each player wishing to post on the forums would have to take said test on their first attempted post, and then once again every month after that. The test would score them on basic math, reading comprehension and other such things. Their score would be determined by the number of questions they got correct and the amount of time it took them to complete the test.

Now everyone has a score, so what? Well players would then find that they have the ability to limit the scores that could post in their threads. They could choose any range of scores that they want, from the stupidest of stupid, to all the Einsteins, that there seem to be so many of.

How can you ever have a cohesive view of the discussion if you block people?
You can't follow the arguments if you don't read all the posts. And if you don't understand the flow of the thread, how can you possibly respond in a rational manner?
