That's what I was going to say. It's the very first dialog box you see after the launcher updates.

I had a window open, but it was rather small, and though it had scroll bars, neither of them worked. My only option was to click OKAY to continue.

Also the launcher NEVER restarts when it says it will. I always have to launch it a second time.

Windows 8.1

half of my launchers reopened themselves, which was... odd.

I got news for you. If your C: drive is too small to hold ALL of EVE, then your computer pretty much is in the 20th Century and nobody living in the 21st Century can be blamed for that. If you're trying to get OUR developers to torture OUR game into a form that can allow you to continue to avoid paying for a REAL COMPUTER, get a life.
Ain't gonna happen. Not in THIS century, anyway.

Some of us like to like to have our multiple terabyte HDD/SDDs carefully organized with C: set aside as a boot for our OS and dedicated physical volumes for each OS/Media/Games/Work/video edits, and don't appreciate it when things arbitrarily attempt to install themselves where they like.

I was thinking that installing into Program Files was rather bland. Remember when games asked to install into C:\Games\ ?

Program files is Microsoft encouraging laziness in coders and poor HD hygiene. Why there are core, non installable windows components in there is also questionable. It makes tracking down malware and badly behaving programs difficult such as hiding stuff in /common.

I have no objection to well defined additional folders in C: or defined categories within /program files. and would make maintaining third party machines so much easier.

M$ did try with /program files/games, but developers/publishers will be precious little snowflakes and insist on their own /EA, /Valve, /CPP folders. And this is coming from a gamedev of 25 years. /shame

Though to be honest throwing everything in /usr/bin is not much better.

"Themepark" "Sandbox", these do not mean what you think they mean, EvE is as on rails as a freight train, and has as many attractions as Disneyland, but soundbites are easy, thinking is not.

I'd tattoo the patch files on my *** right now if it would just work. I'm stuck in an endless loop of patch/repair/patch/repair and cannot get this damn thing to work at all. 4.5 hours have gone by...

If anyone knows what to do about this

Please let me know. The suggested "repair or reinstall" doesn't work and I keep coming back to square 1 with this error.

Do I need to move the folder somewhere else? Its set to the suggested C: drive.

My system drive is a 250 GB SSD reserved for the OS and some select programs. The bulk of my data and games (including multiple EVE installs and a few hundred gig of other games) are all on a 2 TB hybrid drive. After today's patch, I have the shared cache for EVE on the D: drive with no issues. The movement there took... hmm, maybe 10 minutes.

The stability remains to be seen. Shrug.

@Kira Talfase
Try a disk check (right click drive>properties>tools, checkbox "fix errors") will probably require a shutdown to unlock the drive, and quite a bit of time to do the check.
CRC errors can quite often be linked to drive errors, especially shutting down while a disk write is in progress, or there may be some underlying issue with the drive.
If the check comes up clear (errors will be reported during progress), I suggest poking around in the recent post in the "issues and workarounds" forum.
Failing that it may be best to just delete the CCP folder from program files and do a fresh install of eve from todays installer.

Good luck, hope you get it resolved.

Hello all. Just checking - is it safe to move the file to my D drive (I am one of those with a small OS SSD - at least for the next week when an upgrade arrives) after it's installed?

Yes, it should work just fine.

sorry totally clueless here. how do you do this? simple cut the whole file and paste it to another drive or do i need to reinstall? thank you!

There's a Cog icon in the top right corner of the launcher. In those settings you can pick where the cache will reside.

Uh, moving the shared cache prompted a 7GB download, so I think the best way to move the cache is create the new folder first, copy paste the shared cache over, then start the launcher and specify the new folder's location. I'm re-downloading the game, apparently, as a result of testing this for you, so you're welcome. lol. Doesn't bother me at the moment.

iirc EVE uses a registry entry to find the shared cache, so moving it with one launcher won't break the others.

np, it was a good question. I avoided messing with shared cache for as long as possible, but now that it's live this is something I should try for future reference.

Make sure you copy paste, not cut paste the files (if you can spare the room). I think the trick to avoiding the 7GB download is always having the files present in both locations.

It also looks like you have to go back and delete the old location manually... the launcher won't remove it. Heh, makes it easier for me to go back in this test.

With a little fiddling, I moved mine to store the directory on a few re-writable DVDs. Sure, I have to change dvds when jumping between security sectors (high, low, null, w-space), and load times are bad, but it's good to be in control of my game.

Why DVD-RW? Why not Zip disks? Lol

I reverted by specifying the old location, and the client went back to ready status. Test complete o/

It's called partitions, you might have heard of them. Also, some of us want to keep C only for the OS itself and perhaps for permanent programs.

Calm down and realize some people have small SSD's with nothing but windows on it.....
And frankly, who are you to tell him how to where to put files on his PC?
