issue is not how easy or hard things are.

It's just that the most obvious things to do, moment to moment, are to run missions, to obtain better ships, to then go and fight against larger numbers. For a game that is so "abstract", where you can do "anything" you want, the game tries very hard to pigeonhole you into missions.

When all you do is missions, what other opinion but "grindy" would you get? That this is a good, fun way to pass time?

I wouldn´t second that. Mission running in EvE is the only thing that you can label as content provided by the devs and since a lot of players don´t realise that EvE has no "casual content" made by the devs except for missions you will run missions to start with EvE - usually.
After a while you realise there is not much you can´t do in EvE and that´s where things are getting complicated. This do what you feel like is sometimes a bit overwhelming. At least for me it´s like that every now and then. So I need to think of new goals, new things to achieve and so on. If you can´t do that or have no one who is giving out goals it´s getting boring at some point. On the other hand, there is always something you can do. And I personally don´t feel like getting pushed towards missions.
In the beginning yeah, it´s all about missions but that´s nothing bad I think. You learn stuff, get books, implants, ships and basic standings and you eventually learn other players. After that it´s all up to you if you want to run missions or do sth else.

Wow, I've heard many adjectives for EVE, but... grindy? Only if you play it that way. At least you don't have to train skills by using them!

People like the OP is why every single mmorpg is exactly the same. Built for kids with no attention span, who want it all given to them for showing up, with little to no resistance between them and their shallow goals of "da best lewt"

EvE stand alone in a sea of WOW clone mmo games, refusing to follow the mold that all the other games follow.

As a result it has a decently large population that has been playing for nearly a decade on and off, and remains one of the only pay to play games out there.

This games unique, people love it for being unique, then the OP comes along and says "hey has this games developers considerd making it more like every other game out there?" like hes some genius that's going to save the day.

Don't like grinding? Go play your level 90 droid and run the same battle grounds you've run the last 10 years because grinding for stuff sucks...

There is pretty much zero required grinding in this game.

You need a source of ISK but there are tons of ways to get it including no grind and passive options.

You may want a jump clone which you can get by doing missions but there are other ways to get one that require zero grind.

When I think of grinding I think of forced repetitive actions for leveling or getting money. Eve certainly doesn't have that for leveling and as I said there are other ways to get ISK.

Was about to say come join the holy land of Fac War where there is no grind and everyone is free to burn every ship they have with a smile on there face. But then I read the rest of your post and saw that what you want is not casual play but easy play. Your kind has ruined almost every other MMO out there by not understanding what you are asking for.

That being said it you want an experience where even a pilot who does not want to grind but still likes to feel a commitment to getting something done is useful. Then come join Fac War.

Tristan

(Sorry as an addition. Why do people want MMOs to end? Why is endgame content such a thing to complain about? Why would you just not want more good content? Literally anyone please answer this for me.)

Get out of your renter corp and join a pvp corp, fly tackle/ewar.

EVE's got a lot of apologists. Shocked

And they all have the forums on speed dial.

Grind is the process of repeating the same actions over and over for extended periods of time.
Most of EVE has been nerfed six ways side ways and what remains will get done over and over for extended periods of time.

Even the PvP is grindy after a while because the win formula becomes the only formula.

If you are stuck in a rental situation, OP then that is your biggest problem. You have been forced to min/max the ever loving **** out of your game time. It's not a good place to be.

I've not actually done any kind of grinding in ages. Although as with all things, certain things require effort. If you want a fancy ship, you need to earn the ISK for it. You can easily make 100m/h doing incursions. A few hours a week, will get you a PLEX. It's really not that grindy if you think of it.

As others have said, I would get out of the renters situation. that's what is making your game grindy. You're farming for someone else.

EVE isn't grindy: I've gained last 50 millions SP without shooting a single ship - and undocked just few times during last 3 years.

Oh boy.

EvE is so grindy, im playing allmost two years now and am still not at level 100. The dungeons take to long, there is no LFG tool and the EvE raids take like forever and require me to be online for so many hours.

WTF ?

EvE is the most casual friendly game I know of. Skills progress while offline. You can play only one hour a week and still progress as fast as someone who plays 100 hours a week.

The available activitys range from stuff you can do in 5 minutes to stuff you can do in 5 hours. Its your choise.
The only point where EvE is a little grindy is if you want to get some of the rare and more expensive stuff. Dont tell me you cant affort a Tech 1 Cruiser

Its realy getting on my nerves when people say they want a casual friendly game when all they realy want is having everything in the game without any effort.

The thing i have hated about the old style MMO's of the late 1990's and earlier millenial years, and a big factor on how long i played any game at a given time is how much of a grind it became and the lack of end game content.

I've played MMO's since the 1990's and i can tell you gaming has evolved and come a long way, but i have begun to find that this game is too much of a grind for me too play much at any given time, especially since i'm the dad of a 2 year old boy now. It's just hard for me to get involved in and really enjoy, being a lover of many things sci-fi. It has been a pleasure to switch over from swords and sorcery however.

I know this is an old game, but i would love to see this game shift over to more casual play style. I know the hearts, and bodies of gamers all over the world would be greatful to not have to sit here and get blood clots in their legs, and get closer to heart disease trying to make it in the EVE world!

OP.... Casual gameplay is just fine in EvE, you simply have to realize that your options are dependent upon how much time and effort you are willing or able to invest. More equates to more for some funny reason.

Even with minimal time/effort there are plenty of options for shaking up gameplay, so there's no need to grind unless you want to.

Also, end game content is something you have to define for yourself, CCP does not carry the burden of providing it for you.
Other players are your boss monsters, not the NPC's.
Well, except for me. I'm not a boss, more like one of those lesser names that drops crappy loot like slaves and exotic dancers.
And ammo. I definitely drop ammo.

the problem with casual games are too ******* easy and we don't like things are too ******* easy go ahead and take care of your kid that's more important anyway and starting out this game is pretty damn boring but it provides a challenge and other games out there don't have one
