Game too grindy

issue is not how easy or hard things are.

It's just that the most obvious things to do, moment to moment, are to run missions, to obtain better ships, to then go and fight against larger numbers. For a game that is so "abstract", where you can do "anything" you want, the game tries very hard to pigeonhole you into missions.

When all you do is missions, what other opinion but "grindy" would you get? That this is a good, fun way to pass time?

Lol, renters... P
Eve is actually the least grindy MMO I've ever played.
Of course, if all you do is grind anoms in your little renter system so that you can pay the rent so that you can continue grinding, then yes - it's grindy.
Solution: get your arse out of that stupid renter corp and go do something fun. There is a lot more to Eve than grinding anoms.

One of my alts hasn't done a single mission outside the tutorials and is sitting at 800k sp and 500 mil isk. CCP failing hard at pigeonholing me. Feels good.

I agree. This MMO requires the LEAST amount of grinding I've ever played. If you think this is grindy, I can't imagine you playing EQ at its prime or any other MMO for that matter.

I agree it's too grindy but I just spent 30+ bil on a supercarrier (and implants) and I'm saving up for a titan.

I highly doubt you are in the same boat as me.

The problem is OP your "Casual MMO's" that have been released lately have the lifespan of a tired, winded goldfish in a piranha tank. If ya blink even for a millisecond, everything is gone, including the people there to spectate.

For those that are really busy IRL I think Eve's time based skill advancement is a refreshing compared to the play all day and spend ridiculous amounts of time punching the same dragon in the face just to lvl up the skills needed to be able to do any PVP.

Frankly, I would rather have the most insanely complex, apparently grind filled, long real time skill training MMO game that survives indefinitely then a simplistic casual MMO game that goes free to play within its first year and is one cough away from its death.

of all my alts (12 i think?) only one ever completed any mission.
2 of them ever been in fight.
1 alt only does hauling and trading
some others only seen PI in their life
some were doing cyno for me

But all of these 11 alts who never seen any mission agent are supported by 1 alt who actually makes money for all this company

I rather grind isk than xp. Eve is different for a reason yes the grind can get blinding, but it gives everyone a fair chance at risk reward levels don't matter here. On this field we all equal.

If a person isn't smart enough to realize they don't have to do what a 'sandbox' game appears to 'pigeon hole' them into, the problem is the player, not the game.

A monkey could do what I do on that alt for ISK and have fun doing it. It is the same way I made ISK when I first started so yes, a new player is very capable.

I.. what?

I'm sorry op, the issue is you. Not eve, you.

Eve is not even close to a grind. its only a grind because thats how you play. If all you do is run missions then yea its a grind. And then that is the problem, you. You are looking at eve like a traditional mmo, run around kill crap with sticks level up game. But eve is WAY more then that. I can make enough isk to plex my account in about 8 hours running a wh. So in 4 days at 2 hours a day i can pull in a plex, if i get the right amount of stuff.

EVE never has to be grindy. There are so many things to do. What you are essentially doing is being the guy who is flipping burgers at mcdonalds, complains that he hates flipping burgers, but instead of looking for a new job, he sends a mail to mcdonalds corp asking them to change how they do stuff.

Stop flipping burgers man, and go try other things in eve. There are will over 20 different professions you an do to earn money. Stop doing missions and find something else to do.

Or... give me your stuff, i'll keep it safe as you find another game, i promise.

there is no pigeon holing to do missions. I started this game in 04. Ran through the tutorial, ran missions, was bored out of my ******* mind, then stopped and said 'wait i remember i could mine...' and the rest was history. You have to stop and go 'why am i running missions? there has to be more to do.." and go do it. Its again, the guy who thinks he has to go to college to have a good life, though he HATES school. there are other paths, you just have to pull your head out of the sand and look around.

Or just learn to play.

You shouldn't have to PLEX if you know how to apply yourself. PLEXing your account is one of the greater evils you can commit in EVE.

Running a two Level 4 missions in highsec gives me enough isk to pvp fit a tech II frigate.

That's not too grindy, imo.

Another observation i've made since starting EVE back in august of 2014 is this game is extremely grindy, requiring extensive training and requiring alot of play time to succeed in anything. MMO's have shifted towards a more casual play. The thing i have hated about the old style MMO's of the late 1990's and earlier millenial years, and a big factor on how long i played any game at a given time is how much of a grind it became and the lack of end game content.

I've played MMO's since the 1990's and i can tell you gaming has evolved and come a long way, but i have begun to find that this game is too much of a grind for me too play much at any given time, especially since i'm the dad of a 2 year old boy now. It's just hard for me to get involved in and really enjoy, being a lover of many things sci-fi. It has been a pleasure to switch over from swords and sorcery however.

I know this is an old game, but i would love to see this game shift over to more casual play style. I know the hearts, and bodies of gamers all over the world would be greatful to not have to sit here and get blood clots in their legs, and get closer to heart disease trying to make it in the EVE world!

EVE will let you grind as much as you like.

It sure doesn't make you do it.

I've played MMO's since the 1990's as well and this is the least grindy MMO i've played out of the lot, and it's become a lot less grindy since the early days as well. I've played other MMO's since i started eve back in 2006 and all of them have more Grind to them than Eve, spend 4 hours going through a dungeon for a small chance of getting that bow you want? haha no thanks!
Plus eve has no End game, there isn't really an "armour set" to grind towards or "end game raid gear" to acquire, which is one of the things i love. There is officer gear, but meh, why use it for PVE when it paints a nice big target on you and cheap stuff works, use it for PVP? nice loss mail.

If you're finding it a grind then you're making it into a grind.

I'm a casual player, I stick with the NPSI community and it works perfectly well for me. i'm sure if you list what you want to do with your isk someone will be able to help you out.

If it's blow stuff up then check out:

or RvB (not an NPSI group)

Eve is what you make it, it's a sandbox.
