Probably the best idea you will ever hear, in regards to the forum.

So in my few weeks of playing Eve, I've noticed one thing. For a game with such complex mechanics, a game reserved for only those gamers who's cognitive ability is only rivaled by that of the likes of Einstein himself,(at least that's what most of the playerbase seems to think) there sure is a lot of stupid on these forums.

Now, the ability to block players would cut down on a lot of stupid, but so far I've found no such ability and besides that you could never filter it all with just blocking. So what I propose is this.

CCP implement a type of intelligence test for the forums. Each player wishing to post on the forums would have to take said test on their first attempted post, and then once again every month after that. The test would score them on basic math, reading comprehension and other such things. Their score would be determined by the number of questions they got correct and the amount of time it took them to complete the test.

Now everyone has a score, so what? Well players would then find that they have the ability to limit the scores that could post in their threads. They could choose any range of scores that they want, from the stupidest of stupid, to all the Einsteins, that there seem to be so many of.

So why not do your part to fix that and leave?

Ahh my first example, and an excellent selling point you make!

Just imagine a world where pathetic one line trollers couldn't post in your threads. Heavenly isn't it, and all of that could be yours with this one simple fix!

I have found the ability to block (hide posts when you click a players name). It wasn't that hard. You would have to be stupid to not discover that.

Not allowing people with different opinions is not the way how any forum should or could work.

Sure if you just want people with same attitude and opinion in your thread its understandable, but probably contra-productive.
Since you wont be challenged and you wont advance your idea if everyone says its great.
Discussion needs different point of views. Nobody asks you to change your opinion, but if the valid argument is made people adjust their ideas. Thats how it works or at least should work.

All forums have a block ability, otherwise they would turn into a ghost town before too long.

This has nothing to do with attitudes or opinions. This has to do with keeping sub 100 IQs out of my threads. Not all people with a 100+ IQ think alike.

Thanks for that. I assumed, like most forums, clicking the name would take you to the users profiles. Much like clicking the avatar does. My mistake.

well even people with IQ below 100 have opinions.
The way they chose to represent such could differ, but i highly doubt its an question of intelligence.

If you wish to discuss with high intelligent people there are societies for this. And quite frankly EVE forum is not one of them.

Because usually people who post here are smatrer than in other games, basically because they are older, I doubt it would have a point...

I'd pass any test you'd give me, no matter what it would be. And I would still troll you for the sake of it!

I don't think they do. I think they got their opinions from someone else and then ran them through a blender before serving them to us.

Well thats an question.. What is opinion, and how it is created.
Can you create something from nothing ? I doubt it. You just hear/read/experience things, the whole personality is created that way, all the moral and ethics follows... We are not special snowflakes.

by experience there are only few examples which does not require some additional "input" those so far are physical pain, feel free to add more

Yeah, all you are doing is cracking corn, and you know what? I don't care.

If the click on the little down arrow to the left of the posters name and choose 'block' isn't good enough, well, um, er... yeah!

You absorb information, ideas, you take them and put them together and form an opinion. I think that's how it's supposed to work and you don't have to be unique to do it.
