There's very little CCP can do for you.

I recently played EVE while in a remote Alaskan town, and while the speed was horrifically slow (Literally worse than 56k dial-up), the latency was ok.

Turns out that aside from patches, playing EVE uses only a very tiny amount of actual data exchange. So your issues have more to do with the latency between you and the host than they do the actual amount of data exchanged.

Oh and Download on Demand is 100% optional. You can go ahead and download the entire package like you already do instead of going the download by demand route.

Which you would know if you went and read the dev blog.

Download on demand is optional.

You can tell it to just go ahead and download everything before letting you play. (just change the setting in the launcher)

It /should/ let you play anyway, when it doesn't have assets, giving you placeholders instead, but you would notice a spike in network usage, as it has to download stuff (while showing you the placeholders)

However, if you have eve already installed, this won't change that. it'll just shuffle some files around.

Woo! CSM XI!

What about slow connections?

You can use the offline installer, or you can wait while the launcher downloads everything.

one last question: the Launcher behaves like usual if i dont change any settings and it will download the Patch/files as it normally does and the DOD is just for the ppl who dont dont to wait till the patch is downloaded before playing ?

If you do not change any settings in the launcher, then at first login after downtime on March 24, 2015, the launcher will convert all the existing resource files in your client to new file-formats in a location of your choosing. This is done so that you do not need to download the full client again. After this is done, the launcher will then patch the release, and you are all set.

If your connection is a bottleneck, then I'd probably recommend entering the launcher settings and ticking the "Download all the resource files" box. Doing this ensures that you have all the resources possibly needed in game.

Bolded and underlined the part that, because as far as I know, is only possible on a Pc, on a Mac it's just placed on your HD. You have no choice. Right?

Where else would you put it?

Eve is like an addiction; you can't quit it until it quits you. Also, iderno

If someone could elnlighten me on that topic please

Currently I have 3 EvE folders - SiSi, TQ 1st account, TQ 2nd account (as a walkaround to not being able to switch toons without relogging). At this moment each launcher/game updates separately and I'm ok with that.

With DoD will that change and if, how do i keep it the old way?

Can I patch all 3 clients and pick different cache folder for each or they will be somehow forced to use one?

The TQ launcher after it updated remembers my settings from SISI tests and the custom test shared cache I had so I moved that shared cache to a new location where I'd like it to be and then pointed it to the new location. Hopefully the test shared cache doesn't bork my TQ. Lol

Right now it is 50% through the 'Extracting Stuff Files to Shared Resource Cache'. I am hoping using the test cache will also save me some download time. We will see.

*Edit: Went smoothly client is now ready. And logged in successful. bit laggy with the bulk data but it worked great.

The best part isn't the partial download, it's being able to share the cache between multiple clients. Apparently it's even possible to have a TQ and a Sisi client sharing the same resource data, which saves a decent amount of disk space.
