It is not harassment at all. Even far from that.

Now, if they would keep targeting OP, even after he did try everything he could to prevent it, then it would be classed as harassment.

Doesn't matter how much sugar coating is put on it, overall it's still harassment that's being done to a specific type of group within the game, in this case it's newly formed Industrial Corps. Since it's being done in a broad scope and not centered specifically on one particular corp, everybody says it's player created content. It's a loophole that's constantly being exploited as an excuse to justify griefer behavior.

Wardeccing a new corporation is not harassment or griefing. CCP is very clear on what this type of game this is and what type of gameplay they intend for us to engage in:

CCP wrote:
A grief player, or "griefer," is a player who devotes much of his time to making others’ lives miserable, in a large part deriving his enjoyment of the game from these activities while he does not profit from it in any way. Grief tactics are the mechanics a griefer will utilize to antagonize other players. At our discretion, players who are found to be consistently maliciously interfering with the game experience for others may receive a warning, temporary suspension or permanent banning of his account.

This should not be confused with standard conflict that might arise between two (or more) players, such as corporation wars. The EVE universe is a harsh universe largely driven by such conflict and notice must be taken of the fact that nonconsensual combat alone is not considered to be grief play per the above definition.

Since this is the New Citizen's Q&A, perhaps we should not confuse new players with a discussion of changes you would like to see to the game. Part of the problem many players have adjusting to Eve is inaccurate expectations about what kind of game Eve is. New players should know from the beginning what types of game play are allowed by CCP, and make a judgement for themselves if that is the kind of game they would like to play. It is unfair to lead them to believe that they can mine and do industry in peace, when the game is specifically designed for them to have to defend their industry corp right from the beginning.

OP and any other new players, wardecs are an intended part of Eve. It is imperative that you factor in your defense when you consider starting a new corporation. Whether that just be understanding how to dodge/work under war conditions, or actually mount a real defense by yourself or with allies, you need to learn how to deal with wardecs as they are an intended reality of highsec life.

I both agree and disagree with you here. First while he did go off on a big whinny tangent I believe the OP was trying to point out that his opinion was that this mechanic unevenly targets new players in a way that he feels is not good for the long term health of the game from a perspective of a new player.

I also believe that it is important that players get used to feeling like the only female on a battleship full of sailors that has been out to sea for 6 months as soon as possible. I do think that different players will progress into this at different speeds and I feel that the constant and intentional targeting of new player corps is not good for the game in that it chases off people that might otherwise stay if there was a way to ease into it a little more at their own pace.

I can tell you that if I were coming to this game now instead of back in 2009 that I would likely not make it past the first week. I also just finished watching a dev panel Q&A on the fanfest stream where Fozzie said that they realize the war dec mechanic needs work and they want both parties to have more "skin in the game".

I wish that I had better ideas for this but I do think that I understand the balancing act.

Op

Baby steps. Small steps.
And you may have to suck on mummy's nipple until strong enough,
until corp and mates are old enough to stop sucking on the nipple.
You will have spies, other players will try and steal everything.
As a whole corp you are a large target.
The whole corp is now role playing.

Good luck

Always fight but fight the right way. If you are industrialists hire mercs, look for good will in the community, never fight pirates on there terms. I can think of lots of Vets who would charge a very fair fee to fight what sounds like a small pvp corp for you.

Eve is aways about fighting so remember to always fight on your terms not there's.
