There Will Follow a Storm

From the formless void's gaping maw, there springs an entity. Not an entity such as any you can conceive of, nor I; an entity more primordial than the elements themselves, yet constantly coming into existence even as it is destroyed. It is the Child of Chaos, the Pathway to the Next.

The darkness shall swallow the land, and in its wake there will follow a storm, as the appetite of nothing expands over the world.

From the formless void's gaping maw, there springs an entity.

Dr. Damella Macaper

There will be a reckoning, Capsuleers. As has been foretold. I and those like me will bring this to pass.

You’ll be hearing from me again.

So what are you going to do about it? Cower and cry? Or pick up a gun and start shooting?

A Minmatar warship is like a rusting Beetle with 500 horsepower Cardillac engines in the rear, armour plating bolted to chassis and a M2 Browning stuck on top.

Wow, sorry, all this fuss. I usually announce my jumps into highsec.

No need to worry, I was just doing a fuel run. Everyone can go home now.

-A feed begins playing, showing crates and crates of small arms, munitions and explosives. It's all extremely high-tech Federal made equipment, the destinations are scrawled on the crates: Kor-Azor, Derelik, The Forge, Sinq-Liason. The crates are headed to all the Empires, and most certainly for nefarious purposes.

Arms dealing isn't exactly what I would call nefarious, but hey keep working on that image.... If you could send some Quake S and Tremor S this way, that would great.

-An image appears onscreen, showing a busy street somewhere in Amarrian space. The feed appears to be from a security camera-drone. A large checkpoint manned by baseliner Amarrian security forces check vehicles as they go by. Without warning, one of the vehicles that they stop detonates, the force of the explosion knocking out the feed. As suddenly as that feed was cut off, another begins, showing footage from outside an MIO regional office, the building detonates in a cataclysm of antimatter. The feed cuts, and another begins at a greater frame-rate, showing a gun-cam view of an ambush of Amarrian paladins in Imperial space. The feed cuts, then starts again with another bombing, then another, and another until the screen flicks from atrocity to atrocity. Notably, all the targets have been of a military or law-enforcement nature, although there have undoubtedly been some civilian casualties.-

After examining the provided footage and doing some cursory checking into the background of this individual and his organization, I feel I can make the following statement without reservation.

This organisation and its members must be found and purged from existance.

Our terrorist, here, seems to be threatening us, but hitting baseline targets. He and his fellows probably don't have the resources to threaten us directly, in or out of pod. Hence this "you can't protect your people" campaign.

It'll be hard for us to hit back at him for that same reason, though: he works at a smaller scale than we do. This looks like something that should be left to civil authorities, maybe with clone soldier backing if needed.

Basically: not the first terrorist we've seen, won't be the last. Given his choice of targets, he might even be one of the more principled.

Is it my imagination that he's borrowed his look from the Drifters?

Bah. He's attacking those responsible for enacting policy instead of those responsible for making it. I'd be more impressed if he went after politicians instead of cops and soldiers.

For the first time since I started the conversation, he looks me dead in the eye. In his gaze are steel jackhammers, quiet vengeance, a hundred thousand orbital bombs frozen in still life.

True, but he's attacking the armed instead of the defenseless.

That's maybe a cut above the average. I'm not saying that he's a quality example.

Although, for the sorts of people you're talking about, I think we start using different terms to discuss them.

"Assassin," say, instead of "terrorist."

Please, tell me when your bounty hits around the 30-40 million ISK mark so I can hand your personal effects in to DED. Till then you are flying beneath my radar. Wouldn't hurt to pimp your ship either.
