The fanfest was a solid presentation, via twitchtv. I can see the new process beginning to take shape. I find my self logging in more often and turning on more and more of my alt accounts, even though I don't have the time to be a professional player like I have been in the past. The motivation is not hype, but an interest in playing a game that has options vs a game you have to dig through the rough to find the diamond like most MMOs.

Though I did miss the the obvious normal hype that came in the past. I thought it would have been entertaining though if we had a Player Key Note that would have been sarcastic, presenting unfounded expansion promises, that were totally unrealistic, poking fun at the current hype train of most video Games.

Thank you for carring about your current player base, I am now proud to say I am an eve player, not a drone led by CCP propaganda.

Now to follow the player in game propaganda!

Someday I will have the time to play. For now it is mining afk in High sec. In Cheap ships

I'm pretty pleased with the lack of pie in the sky promises as well.

This time around it was mostly work in progress, very refreshing... and the few presentations that were dealing with things that were mostly in the concept stage were clearly labeled as such. Even those were pretty firmly based in underlying mechanics that have already been introduced to the game as a foundation for the work.

Perhaps not quite the wow factor (perhaps) but we were left with the distinct feeling that most of what we saw would be in game in the relatively near future... not probable vaporware as we had in the past.

There is nothing worse than bragging to your friends, or discussing in a YouTube broadcast, exciting new reveals that turn out to go nowhere.

I'm giving this new direction for Fanfest a big thumbs up.

The last time they tried that they were almost relegated to the seventh circle of Hell. Shocked
It's a long story. Please don't ask.

Suffice to say, no one not fiduciarily responsible for the venue should be trusted with an open mic.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

Yeah, thanks management team, development team, secretarial pool, interns, and all you little people - gnomes, ice scrapers - that keep Iceland thawed out. We love yah. We'd come up to show yah but it's hard to kiss you on the cheek with blue lips.

That being said, with this new development schedule there shouldn't be any blockbuster announcements to make. If there is/are/am, it would be something way out of the ordinary. It's an amazing commitment if you think about it, to engage in a month-by-month evolution of the game, all the while keeping lines of communication open. Ballsy move. One only CCP can make. We love yah.

So, Fanfest? Hey. It's a celebration. Celebrate EVE. Do it with the ones who really care.
Do it on an ice cube dotted with volcanos!

Ooops! Already time to start planning next year's? No rest for the weary. Lol
