If I didn't know FanFest was happening the only thing I would have seen was the Structure DevBlog that could have been confused for any regular DevBlog we get on the 3rd Friday of any random month.. We get DevBlogs all the time.

In the past I have felt appreciatively inundated with FanFest info and streams and news...

This time I had to seek out what little I found. That's basically all I'm saying.
Oh. Well. That sort of production is done by professionals. You give us what you want presented. We package it up for you. If you want your own people to do the presenting, you make them available for a week of rehearsal. If not, we'll contract pros for you. The thing is, you have to be willing to part with about $50K on the cheap if you're a relative or a buddy. Otherwise, we're getting into six figures in a hurry.

I was just suggesting the way to go with Ma & Pa Kettle selling their own soap. All you can do is improve the video and sound. If you have a chance to be on-scene, you may have a shot at improving the staging...but, not by much. We can all safely assume the information is the presentation...or you have local yucks ga-ga-ing at the camera.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

Having all the news on Day one was a little strange there wasn't the same build up over the event.

For getting direct, face-to-face feedback from players about announced changes having the announcement before hanging out together is of course much better.

I don't disagree, but from a stream perspective it was different.

There were camera's in almost every room I walked into. How much more covered do you want to see it?

With the budget that they have the quality reflects this. Improvements to Fanfest Livestream or Fanfest itself, trying to get a better production would cost so much more even for little improvements. I truly think they do a really good job.

Many of CCP are just game designers, coders etc.. that in itself isn't a easy job. Being able to be vocal on stage isn't something that comes easy for many people.

So the question you need to ask yourselfs would you prefer them to spend extra money & vocal training for a once a year Fanfest or improvements into what they do best "EVE online" P

I really liked watching the Livestream (second time for me so far) , hopefully i will get time to visit Iceland & be part of Fanfest one day[:p

P.S

Thanks once again for a Great Fanfes

Face it. Once a year presentations don't justify going to this extreme. If it were even a monthly show, it'd be hard to justify the expense. See it as part of the innate charm of computer weenies trying to play television...thinking calling it "streaming" makes it a computer weenie function. It has a quaint sort of digital charm, no?

Cool

Sound quality is the only thing I notice is a bit shaky on EvE streams but when you explain the problems from a cost/technical standpoint it makes sense. It's not a massive deal.

I'm not really sure who you are complaining about here, CCP or player run sites?

TMC has 7 articles and en24 has 9 that I can see. It's only a 3 day event and I'd imagine a lot of the staff from both sites are attending so what more did you expect them to report? The front page of GD and reddit have been littered with topics about FF. Every time I log into comms people are gabbling on excitedly about what they've seen. People have been posting messages on twitter since the weekend - even if you didn't catch any of the live streams you could have followed most of the announcements there. Perhaps coverage has been toned down a bit because the livestream is free. In previous years a lot of people were waiting for the youtube vids so there had to be secondary reporting from people with access.

Phantom put up full summaries for day one, two and three on the news stream. This has got to be the funniest EvE player interview I've ever seen. Probably would have missed it if it hadn't been linked there, gj Phantom.

My biggest complaint about the stream is when a presenter would be talking and showing slides.. and the camera would focus on the presenter missing some slides entirely. For the most part they got it right, but there were a handful of times where things were just missed entirely because we never saw the slides..

Just have to say. Playing 5.5 years. The coverage from all sources of this fanfest was terrible. It was quite literally almost as if it didn't even happen.

If you would like to make a statement like that, it would help to qualify it with how you felt the coverage was lacking.

Personally I felt it was fine aside from the use of Twitch (boo Twitch - as a paying game customer I would like better than an advertisement loaded, buggy [doesn't work on Chrome] service).
