I always thought they were put in sideways. 1400mm long, 425mm wide.

they are compressed with winrar before loading to gun and when loading takes rpocessing its decompressed into full size.

in reality most likely ammunition is assembled during load

I think you mean Minrar.

Guns, how do they work?

Except there are no BPOs for sabots, we never have to buy them, or build them, or load them. If they allow a 425 mm round to fit 1600 mm gun, then they would be larger than the round. Yet they use no cargo space?

Maybe the sabot is a small weak force field generated by the round. We have these in real life, they're using them to try to attempt fusion without burning through the holding container. Prevents the core from touching the sides of the container.

Could be even simpler than that, if the sabot was kinda like a reinforced/sprung umbrella that just expands when loaded with explosive charge in a larger calibre weapon.

wouldn't be much point overcomplicating a round of ammo or the cannon that fires it.

Maybe the vanilla ammo comes stock with the sabot @1400mm, and the smaller weapons have a mechanism that de-sabots the round before chambering it.

Maybe also, the ammo has multiple sabots (think nesting doll), and that's why it also fits the 800s etc!

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Then I want the option to remove the nested sabots before I use them in a ship with smaller guns. That way I can carry more ammo.

They'll explode prematurely unless the procedure is done with the right equipment, and unfortunately that equipment is integrated into the weapons ammo feeder. All attempts to build a stand alone unit have failed as it is proprietary technology of the weapons original manufacturer and they refuse to release the schematics and specifications. To prevent reverse engineering, the housings have been outfitted with a nanobot derived self destruct mechanism which turns the sabot remover to constituent elements if tampered with.

Just to take this and run with it, then why are Railguns measured in terms of barrel diameter? I'd much rather have them measured in kilowatts!

once you explained that, try to explain square cannon barrels #goodLuck

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Barrel diameter has a pretty significant influence field strength.

Minmatar engineering found that you could not fit a square peg into a round hole, but you could in fact fit a round peg in a square hole.

Sabot rounds suck for auto loaders. The rounds get jammed in the breach due to heat produced and fast cycle times. I have missed many targets because of it.

While it's somewhat sick, the ammo probably got the lowest of all calibers of all listed. Rest is fixed with overjacket, possibly with extra payload.

But if they use sabots to fit th same projectile in diffrent weapon sizes shouldn't they do the same damage?

The real question is that how do large projectile ammo divide into several smaller ammo when used in dual 425 mm autocannon?

i would say ammo is made from yhhhhmmm.... specific male body parts that in some circumstances grows.... and fits into larger caliber :D
