Eve is intentionally a game about player created content. What that means is that you either need to make your own content or hook up with some people that do. You can join a player corp or get in some in game channels and make friends.

If you just want action now there is no queueable PvP in this game and that is by design. The closest that I can think of that you can get to that is roaming with twitch streamers or NPSI groups. If isk is a problem you can either start looking into a way make some in game or buy a PLEX and sell it in game you'll have more than enough isk to buy cheap ships and PvP for a long while.

amazing how things evolve into something else like this topic

I'm going to do mining for now it's boring but at least it's not tedious like missions

PvP is on my to do list but what I found so far it's not really that fun having got into it yet but I did some research the penalties are too great for me right now to get into it

There does not need to be any penalties other than possibly loosing your ship and if it is a cheap fit insured T1 frig then it won't even be that much.

I'm not a PvPer but it sounds to me like you are making excuses. If you want to try PvP just do it. If you can't figure out how then ask, that is what we are here for.

Look into NPSI roams. They are fun, take anybody with them and and use null for the pew pew part (mostly).
