You can do whatever you want to do. Want to ruin someones day, go for it. Want to mine rocks, go for it. Want to lead a revolution, go for it. Heck, whatever you think of in this game, go for it. Join up with likeminded people and have a go Smile

Why, thank you, Thing!

This game does NOT provide a string of quests to lead you through to max level and then PVE raids, like other MMO's. As you've noticed, the tutorial stuff is brief, and then nothing; you're supposed to cook up your own entertainment, and that's difficult. So my recommendation is to put some effort into finding a good corporation to join, because they, as a group, will likely have goals and organized fights, and those can be your entertainment, so you don't have to invent your own.

This game also has very weak PVE; it's just a bunch of repetitive missions or boring mining, and it's mostly a not-even-disguised grind for money. So you can PVP, which is where the game shines. So my second recommendation is to get into PVP, or as the poster above put it, shoot someone in the face.

Bonus points if you shoot someone in the face for profit.

You can now. Blink

edit: also... read the links in my forum signature. The first two should give you an idea on what you can do (based on what others have done) and what your capabilities are (skillpoints are NOT "everything").

1. Fit up a frigate, preferably with guns
2. Go somewhere where the numbers in the upper left hand corner turns red.
3. Stay there until someone sends you packing
4. Repeat.

Scouting is fun. My noob out in lowsec usually scouts for a friend I hang out there with and he has 15 kills that I have scouted and provided cloaked warp-ins for. The assist is almost as sweet as the kill.

Train for a warp disruptor and then head to low/null/wh to die or kill someone.

Post with your NPC alt main and not your main main alt!

Go to Amamake, warp to the top asteroid belt, and wait.

Remember to activate your modules when the thing happens.

Edit: do not get killed by NPCs.

Yes, you should shoot someone. However, you should also go out and make a friend. Or many friends (join a corporation). EVE is very dull when you play alone, especially when you are new and don't know what all the possibilities are.

^^ That.

Drop in to any of the player channels listed in people's forum signatures and just strike up a conversation or asking for advice... or ask if you can "tag along" (a lot of us roam around the game doing whatever, usually looking for fights or making money).

Establishing connections and referrals with other players can open up opportunities and gameplay either immediately or down the line.

Shoot first and then make friends if they are cool about being shot.

This is actually the recruitment policy of some low-sec pirate corps. Pirate

Can confirm. My corp regularly does this.
