Downloading Res Cache causing client crash

I'm having issues with the Res Cache downloads. The problem has been persistent since DoD was first released and is still happening in v2.2.870177.

I've tried moving the cache location between all my drives. Clearly my system of Eve entirely (both TQ and SiSi) and retried to install SiSi. Still no success.

All I've getting now on the client is:

First time of trying after deleting the Cache or trying a new location. (Selecting or deselecting the "Download all the resource files" option makes no difference)

DOWNLOADING UPDATES 38.63MB/531.91MB 65.7%

At this point the download stops. All network reading go cold at this stage too. The Launcher is still running as all the sliders and menus within the launcher are still functional. It however then crashes when I attempt to close it.

The following time of opening the launcher I get stuck at:

DOWNLOADING UPDATES 89.64KB/493.36MB 0.6%

Same as before. Network not moving. Launcher running.
In this latest build the launcher doesn't crash when trying to close it - but only during this second 0.6% phase. It closes properly.

My SharedCache folder at this stage is 38.5MB in size (47.6MB on disk), with 4,317 Files and 259 folders.

If there's any help or if anyone from CCP needs any more info or has things for me to try then please let me know!

Hi,

Please try first if the patching process might be blocked by your firewall, antivirus or proxy. You can also check if you can access our CDN by trying to download this file: http://res.eveonline.ccpgames.com/af/af01a01a79a60851_ef9a766cab29d255e16678bbda414e64 . If this download does not work, then something is blocking it.

If you do not get any further, then please try to run the launcher with added debugging and then create a bug report and attach the zipped launcher log to it. For this please add the option /log:debug to the shortcut for starting the Singularity launcher. The log can be found then in this subfolder \launcher\cache\ of your Singularity folder.

hi,

Was able to download that file with my AV still on. Disabling my AV has allowed the download to complete. A problem I've not had before. Silly of me not to think of that in hindsight...

Will be interesting to see if any of the files are blocked while actually playing the game. Fingers crossed it was a one off. Glad the problem was so minor.
Thanks for the help.

Good to hear that the issue is resolved for you. May I ask which AV your are using, so that we can try to reproduce this problem in-house and either prevent it or at least prepare proper instructions for it?
