Running FW missions against Amarr

In my entire time playing EVE, I've been very careful to not damage my highsec standings. I'm ready to take my first plunge, by running FW missions and allowing my standings with the Amarr and Caldari to drop into the negatives.

Despite my character being 7 years old, I only have about 16 million skill points. Mostly in gunnery and Minmatar ships.

I'm planning on running FW missions to both gain loyalty points to spend on Minmatar faction ships, and also to try and farm up dog tags to trade in for republic fleet items with the LP store (RF gyrostabilizers, RF MWD/Ab, etc)

I have some questions though: are the NPC enemies in FW missions omni tanked? Or do they follow the standard resistance profile for NPC ships of their respective faction? For example, most Amarr NPC mission enemies are weak to EM and resistant to explosive. If this is true for FW missions, then T2 projectile ammunition will be grossly ineffective against them. So the implications of whether or not they are omnitanked are pretty notable.

Another thing I wanted to ask, is what is a good ship to run missions in, provided that I plan on clearing some of these mission zones and collecting the tags? I know stealth bombers are used a lot, but I think they use primarily for blitzing missions to gain LP, rather than clearing the missions and collecting dog tags.

I figure that Vexor Navy Issue, or Ishtars would be good ships to use for FW missions, especially considering that Amarr NPC use tracking disruptors. I'm not as well skilled in drones and gallente ships, so I'm thinking of using a Vagabond with artillery on it, and simply shooting from a long range where the NPC ships simply burn directly towards me nullifying the effects of tracking disruptors.

Finally, is there anybody else out there that would be interested in joining me in doing this? I was planning on starting with L3 FW missions, and potentially going up to L4.

1. Follow standard resist profiles for their race.

2. It is not recommended to clear all the mission rats and collect tags. When you warp to your FW mission, a beacon alights in space for all to see. So you want to warp in, kill the mission objective, warp out. Against Amarr, a Purifier is perfect for running FW missions. In fact, except for Gallente FW Militia, the ship of choice for running FW missions is a Stealth Bomber.

From what I have heard you can simply blitz the fw missions in a bomber to get lp. Remember you will be in lowsec, and flying around to a fw mission site will expose you to tackle on gates. Also, when you enter the target system the mission site will appear in space and on your overview, but also on everyone else's overview.

FW missions are sort of a different animal. You should really ask this question in the W&T subforum. Probably some minmatar militia guys can answer your questions there. You could ask to have this thread moved there as well.

edit - also purely pve fw players are frowned upon. While you're dipping your toes in the water, fit up some frigs and try out some pvp as well.Smile

Most people just cherry pick missions where they kill a few ships or a structure to complete the mission and they run them in purifiers against amarr or hounds against minmatar, Kinda ironic that but the racial resists work out that way. This does mean though, that they are blitzing for LP, and not collecting tags.

If you want to actually collect tags too (which could be financially rewarding seeing as lots of the better items do need tags to redeem), you probably want to use something like an Ishtar that can get away from the warp-in very quickly, deploy an MTU and blap everything. The issue with a vagabond is that it just doesn't do the sort of very long range high damage that an ishtar does, it would probably work, but it wouldn't be ideal, and remember time is not only money but safety.

Expect to be attacked by people like me, I am Amarr militia after all, and do not expect help from the Minmatar milita. If you are a purely PVE pilot then you are worthless to most of the players eyes, after all while deplexing farmers are helpful since they do the deplexing that PVP players don't want to do. When I was Minmatar FW back in 2011, I would have never awoxed someone running a mission just because they didn't PVP, but I don't know what the culture is really like there now. If you do PVP as well though, you can probably get into decent Intel channels and get help if you get camped into a system or whatnot.
