I just asked for a bug report. Please submit one, preferably during or right after you have this problem.

Theatrical effects. I do submit a lot of bug reports.
The one related to this will probably be awhile in coming, it is not a frequent occurance and I will possibly remember after dying.

Hi, I'm the owner of an ancient history museum, and I'd really like to talk to you about this cpu you have.

But seriously though. That thing is at best ten years old, fifteen at worst. One hyperthreaded core, between 1 and 5 years older than the minimum required specs for Eve.

Tonight, (check my killboard) Pandemic Legion and Brave shooting us, I was one of the only people to survive.
Heaps of people on field, regular bombs going off and no lag.

It is specific to many anchored bubbles and smart bombs.

Optimising does not have to be done for the sake of old hardware, it can be done for the sake of improving a great game.

I'd never use this, but see no reason why you shouldn't be able to.

If you weren't already aware of these settings, in the mean time you can turn off all effects, turn off drone models, and turn your graphics all the way down, and I'd hope your PC can run that lag free. If not, I would seriously recommend upgrading, or just quitting EVE and playing smartphone games because you'd be a disgrace to the glorious PC master race.

EVE's usually a rather low requirement game, even on high and outside of large fleet engagements it runs easy on computers with less expensive hardware.

I should repeat, just for clarity: If you're running on minimum settings and winding up having sustained periods of 0-3 FPS, and you're on a machine that meets the game's minimum requirements, it needs to be looked into by our QA department. It's possible that you're running software versions or specific hardware that isn't fully supported, or it might be a software defect. Without submitting a bug report as soon as possible after the problem happens, we have no way to tell what the issue could be.

I will do it as soon as the conditions that make these circumstances occur.

Can we make this clear:

- I get lag under very specific circumstances that has very little to do with ships.
- I am not trying to get a fix for my lag with this thread.
- I am suggesting a way to maximise client performace

It is a bit like the new client coming with download on demand.
What if there is an option where I simply do not download the ships and skins because I do not need or want them?

lol this happens with 50/50 chance anytime more than 4 bubbles overlap but i'll send in a bug report with shots next time it happens(also it seems lowing the settings makes it harder for my PC when bubbles are involved)

Wait, what? During mass tests I see 2 fps in general during the big fleet fight. Ive never been told that is bug worthy. Do you really mean the above, even for big fleet fights? Even on a Mac?

Now that I am more aware of it, I noticed tonight a bit of FPS drop with interdictor bubbles.
It was soon after undocking and a camera reset.
I zoomed out and as soon as my camera was out of the bubbles, the lag vanished.

So, oddly enough ... is it possible the problem is from looking at the inside surface of multiple overlapping bubbles and then how it calculates looking at what is beyond them?

A year ago an eve client used 300mb or ram (low settings no sound), now its 650mb on the same settings.
Nothing of value changed so dramatically to justify such an increase, and performance keeps getting worse.

It's ok tho, soon we will have icons like the one in assassins creed!

Bigger textures.
More detailed models.
Deadlines, bloated code.

In my dreams as CCP CEO, I declare April and May janitor months.
Time to step back, look at the changes that are rushing in, optimise code, fix bugs, clean up the servers and the client.

I did try searching, maybe my terms went from too generic to too specific but I didn't find what I was looking for with the search engine.

I would like an option to turn all ships and drones in space into cuboids / retangular boxes.
  • 8 mesh nodes
  • 1 colour
  • No textures.

Can narrow one side and that gives ship direction, like 3D arrows.

This would greatly boost my system performance during blob vs blob fights.
I zoom way out and do not look at ships - so why load them?

Overview + colours + relative position in space is all I need.

Thank you, have a great week.

Edit: Corrected error. Also 5 nodes if they use elongated pyramids.

Confirming, brackets in space is all we need.

Keep your filthy textures.

If I saw your screen playing with such a setting turned on, I would start crying blood tears of sadness. Mah spaceship Sad

But as an option? Why not? If it does help your computer with your playstyle, it would be good. I have an alternative: what about simplified, flat pictures of each ship instead of just boxes? Like the ones on Sins of a Solar Empire when you zoom out enough.

The oldest of the two, that I use for comms and web browsing, the one with the weaker processor, has something like this. Apparently, the motherboard can fit something called a, "Core™ 2 Quad."

Because "DxDiag says, Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00 GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz"
Also, the one you linked to there is also below minimum requirements

It would seem DxDiag is not particularly specific.
As part of the mother of all de-railed threads, I just spent a stupidly long time finding the processor for you.
The manufacturer's site was rubbish. I had to go around and around (edit: on third party sites) and I kept finding models with the same board but completely different other configurations.

I intensely dislike you for the duration of today. I didn't need this information. I could see it in changed performance.

The web browser machine used to have a GTX 8800 attached to it and that card melted when Incarna came out along with a lot of other people's graphics cards. It then ran EVE on a GT 7300 back up card.
Other than the way realistic lighting is calculated, I do not know of any real changes to EVE since those times. I certainly do not feel any difference in the game interface and world. All I have noticed is the changes to ship and weapon mechanics.

On a somewhat related note does EVE pre-load the grid we are warping into and if so is that lag spike the updated details on landing since it started the process?
