Do NPC's target logi in missions?

If a logi ship were to warp into a mission pocket after someone initially agresses, will the NPC's react to them repping the DPS ship?

Assume yes and have someone fit a rr into a utility high.

Once upon a time, long, long ago, mission rats only ever locked the first thing to cross their sensors that was either within a certain range or started shooting them. However, about the time that wormholes and t3's came out, mission rats received an 'update' to their ai, which caused them to start shooting things like drones. It has been a while, but I seem to recall that they would also switch targets off the primary tank onto dps ships and logi's.

I forget exactly which one it was, might even be both.

They either attack the largest threat on grid or they attack the easiest target on grid.

I think if EWAR or booster is present, they focus on that first. Though I must admit I've seen them switch to easier / softer / smaller targets very quickly when those targets appear on grid.

In my experience second ship always get aggro after warp in
Towers always lock first target.

yes unfortunately, some time ago I forgot the year now, mission rats didn't change targets. You send 1 ship in and get agro then bring in the logi and have at it. they CCP invented agro mechanics which don't work worth anything. Having tested this ive taken ships with every form of EW per CCP saying EW increases aggro and I still lost drones to target switching as soon as they leave the bay with out engaging anything.

OP, are you thinking of dual boxing with a logi? or warping in a logi in an emergency?

I was thinking of being logi helping a second player do missions they may not be able to tackle yet on their own at their skill/sp level. Nothing special, just level 3's and possibly 4's. But looks like it may not be a good idea.

Probably best for me to DPS and let the newer person logi in a C1 or C2.

Anyway thanks again for all the responses.

"new player on grid is primary"

you can use this to your advantage, especially if all the small rats are dead Blink

One option that worked well for me was setting up the fleet as RR for each other. This works best for ships with utility highs and very little in the way of capacitor load, so ideally a drone boat like the Vexor, Myrmidon, or Dominix. Your newbie friend can focus on local & remote tanking skills, then gradually skill into the required weapon systems until they're capable of completing PVE content on their own.
