From my experience With explosives, the actually blast aint that Dangerous, its all the crap thats tossed around that kill ya...

So, since its in Space, the shockwave in vacum of Space, is minimal.... so the bigger ship, the more debris, ergo more damage. The range has nothing to say, since its in vacum. Vacum dont slow Down debris. But the size of the debris and its speed should be a important piece of the damage calculation.


I'm thinking that damage would be reduced on an inverse square basis since there's only so much fragmentation and the area its spread throughout grows very rapidly.

You are right so the logical thing will be to set no explosions in a 50 - 75 Km radius from stations.

The Gate perimeter is fair game, why should only the gate campers have a way to screw with you and you not with them!!!
Now for the lower cost, who said that they would be cheap, but in any case it's not up to me, CCP decides!

I saw this thread and thought it was for a different idea:

Put explosives in my ship to protect my cargo. That is, if my ship explodes, the explosives go off destroying the cargo and modules, leaving no profit for the gankers. The drawback would be I could not carry as much cargo, and I would never have the opportunity to recover anything myself.
