That ad popped up once but was overshadowed by a ''New client build available' message so I couldn't read it. It never came up again, after my client restarted so I never had a chance to read it.

As for the E-mail? Well, i'm still waiting for one of those too.

I selected the remap option when the gifts were first announced, but apparently the reworking of the neural remap gift erased all record of my selection, so now I get nothing. Oh wait, I see some coal in my stocking!

My experience in redeeming gifts, took me three tries (three log ins)before it gave me a successful 'you can redeem this item, but it did work. Maybe the system is on a time dilatation blade :)

This is just great. Yeah, I know, complaining about something that would've been a free gift, but still...

In-game news in CQ? - Nope
In-game mail? - Nope.
In-game bulletin? Thanks to daily client- and or game updates. - Nope.
In-game redeem system like the previous couple years? - Nope.

EVE-gate info of any sort? - Nope.
eveonline.com info of any sort? - As a side node in a post concerning a different topic.

Oh, but a newsletter to an e-mail address that I only use for online purchases and as such only check when I'm expecting mail. Even worse, even if I would check it frequently I wouldn't have noticed since the newsletter got classified as spam by gmail (and achieving a false positive there is indeed quite a feat).

Oh, and now a huge dev post that I can only interpret as: "nah, nah, too late, sucker!"

In conclusion, If you didn't actually want to issue any gifts but still be able to claim you did you surely did pick the best strategy... and I actually wouldn't have minded the aurum tokens.

I did get my gifts for being on the ball, but I do have to agree with the many complainers here that the communication about the gift was **** poor. 1 mention in a dev blog about an unrelated topic, and then a mention in a newsletter that I personally rarely read. you know, this may just be CCP's way of making us start reading their mail...

Totaly agree. Well, bravo, CCP. Thanx for the gift I did not know about and can't get it also... Next time simply do nothing - don't make me feel like an idiot. Just don't give anything, don't write it in news at all, and so on... I was in a pretty good mood before I read the news - now you just made me feel suck one more time in this game...

I guess it not 2 late to fix all and just give ppl presents for Christmas - if that was your intention...

As a long time subscriber to EVE, I have to say that CCP did a real disservice to the customer with this gift. I have several accounts and I got the implants that were shown in the regular "Redeem Items" function. I did not however get any additional gifts on any accounts because I did not go into the Account Management page, nor was I aware of that part until AFTER the time had expired.

Why suddenly a new mechanism for redeeming gifts? And why in the Account Management page?

I pay for my accounts a year at a time and have no reason to go into the Account Management page. Guess thats what one gets for being a long term subscriber.

Maybe CCP should train up some communication skills and notify the customers in a more uniform manner other than blogs and message board posts. Also, using the existing "Redeem Items" functionality might make sense rather than creating another more confusing process.

Happy Holidays!

CCP sucks at communication and wonders why people get pissed at them.

Also They admit the a very tiny percentage of players use the forums yet think its OK to use it as a tool to announce promotions and gifts?????? This is madness.

Why was there no in game mail CCP. You know the most direct and foolproof way to inform players of such a promo and gift?

I mean you didnt have a problem doing it to promote your crap NEX store?

A tiny blurb in and unrelated blog and a newsletter people do not read is how you want to roll with this.

I got my gifts but I think its total crap what you did here and did the the player base at large.

Not to mention you made it overly complicated.

If you didn't get the gift, then you didn't follow the crowd.

I read that you had to log into the account screen, so I did it when I claimed the 2nd free implant, chose what I wanted after a couple of days and got them yesterday.

If you don't keep an eye on the games website, news, forums, announcements, then who's to blame? are CCP really going to have to email/evemail everyone who hasn't made a choice, and even then, if you don't log in, or use some spam email address for CCP, then you're not going to get it anyway.

Maybe they should have done it differently, but that would require more work, and since they're still fixing crucible, I think the game warrants more dev/programmer time than re-writing the redeem gifts section so you can only choose 1 item, bearing in mind that people may still have the CA-2 implant on the redeem system if they've not logged in for a couple of weeks, so they'd then have to code it so you can select the CA-2 and then any ONE of the other gifts.

CCP are notorious for poor communication, so why is this a surprise to people, the only way you find things out in eve is to scour the website.

I'm narked that they didn't make it clear that the aurum was in voucher form which could have been sold, giving a greater isk value than the +3's I chose, but that's life, after all, it's a FREE GIFT, not something you've paid for.

Basically if you want to keep up to date with the game, then use a little initiative, if you see a splash box on your client about a free gift, and you can't read it cos of the client update box, maybe look around the eve-o website to try see what it's about.

No CCP no longer gets a pass on poor communication just cause they always suck at it. This type of crap needs to stop.

The can message us all about the NEX store in game they can very well message us about this. And make it in game RP friendly as well.

^-- This

I didn't get a chance to chose a gift, because I was busy with real life stuff for the past two weeks, I got on in a rush to tick over the skill que one night before going back to work. The next night when I had time to play I realized in getting caught up that I had missed the chance by about 2 and a half hours. My response? "Oh, that sucks, oh well. Not like it was a snowball launcher or a unique shuttle or something." Life goes on.

I'm not going to rant and rave and scream "NO MOAR MONIEZ 2 CCP IF THEY DON'T GIVE ME FREE SHTUFS!" like a fat chick at McDonalds 2 hours after the doors close. I'm going to go back to playing the game that I like, and not worry about it. If you're raving over your neural remap, well then go download Evemon and stop blowing through remaps like a hooker through morning after pills. If you're complaining about not being able to sell some other gift for a tidy sum then go stock up on morning after pills and hang out outside of a station in Jita.

G'day ye gift grubbing hussies. (In this context 'hussies' is a gender neutral term)
