And besides, horizontal snow and near hurricane winds is a normal winter day.

20 below freezing, 3 feet of snow per hour and actual hurricanes is proper weather, and might even make locals go "gee, it's a bit windy today".

And btw, the locals have a special saying about the weather.
"If you don't like it, wait 15 minutes and it will have changed."

As I said before, I'm Brazilian. I only saw snow when I went to Fanfest in 2013. How do you think I feel with this kind of temperatures? I got 42º C here last week.

I convinced my wife to go in 2013 for the 10 year Fanfest.

Nonnabiti's was amazing and the people working there were pleasant to talk to. They introduced us to a local drink made by Egil's. My understanding it was a carbonated malt orange soda.

The McDonald's there is called Metro. We found one outside the the "big" mall. To be nice don't waste your time there because the food is kinda bland.

I probably going to get flak over this but it was hard to find a good cup of coffee. They make the coffee there strong. If you like it that way then your ok. I learned to ask for some hot water on the side to dilute it a bit.

They have pizza and it's fine. Coming from New York I'm sure you like your pizza.
Other junkfood staples like Coka Cola and Doritos are all available.

My experience was a hamburger and coke will cost you around $15 american.

If your into seafood they have lots of choices. Down near the docks is a place called Sea Baron. Go there just to see the decor, but if you are up to it try the lobster soup.

The hotdog stand they rave about on the flight is ok. There always seems to be somebody in line. Talk to the guy that works there as he's a pretty cool guy. Somedays he's there for 16 hours straight selling hotdogs.

They have a cafeteria area at Fanfest but the food is pretty generic. They use cool names though to descibe it. They also have food vendors come in to offer other fair and the line ups for those always seemed to be long. If I remember correctly one was a pizza stand.

Go to the Laundrymat Cafe. Just go. It is a pretty cool place to check out. The breakfast was also good.

WOW! Thanks everyone for the excellent responses(especially the one mentioning pulled pork mmmmm). I would never have imagined so many people would help me out and I am much more confident in the food selection and travel advice. A lot of people seem to be concerned about the weather, but considering the East Coast of the US has suffered 3 years of crippling winter storms(this season has been the mildest) it never crossed my mind to worry about cold weather and I tend to dress warm either way. I can say for sure that I will probably be unimpressed with pizza but i'll be willing to compare. I have heeded everyone's warning and will be diverting a decent amount of souvenir money(not that I planned to buy much anyway) towards food expenses. I dont eat much volume anyway(remember the 120lbs part?) but I am interested in experiencing the food regardless. My company has denied usage of my mobile phone so that was made clear and I will be contacting my bank as well as photocopying my passport for preventative measures. One question I was wondering recently is: Is there any other vendors at Fanfest? I noticed that Oculus VR, Nvidia, Razer and a bunch of gaming companies/media outlets come to fanfest. My concern is that if I come to fanfest and see a bunch of booths selling goodies, that I wont have anything to carry them in LOL. I will be attending a lot of panels(even the "boring" ones) so I want to make sure I am not walking into those with a backpack full of loot swag.

Things to note and Google
1. Flybus
2. AirBNB if you need a place (most hotels have booked up close to venue)
3. Cheap but good food - Hot Dog Cart close to Harpa..just follow the crowds. Cheap and delicious!

Would also recommend buying from the Grocery store for some meals and items. Restaurants every night is going to cost you.

If you buy stuff and its too much, you need to weigh the pros and cons of buying/paying for an extra bag vs Post.

Monkeys represent! OOK!!!!! Im not too worried about my phone. My intelligent girlfriend, says I should have it for emergencies, but what is the fun in that? Last thing I want is phone calls from the US, when I booked the trip to avoid just that. I alredy bought a ticket for the Bar Crawl........its gonna be a good night ;)

From what i understand, you also get access to a private area hence the increaed price. and it will prolly be packed.

looking at the weather report... yea i'm gonna freeze my ass off lol
