Could use a little advice on my skill plan for an alt.

So this alt, may eventually become my new main after a year or two. it's generally going to be focused on Gallente/Caldari T2 Frigates and cruisers, Tengu or proteus (haven't decided yet), eventually it will also become a chimera pilot (our wh fleet is shields so that's why chimera)

So this is my general thinking on the plan (this character will probably be docked in a station for a good while)

1st Remap Int/Mem
Cybernetics to 4 (or 5? Haven't really decided yet. This character will have the +9 accelerator to start so not sure if I should just go straight to +5's or not.)

Engineering Skills
Electronic Skills
Navigation Skills
Targetting Skills
Armor/Shield Skills
Scanning skills(Probably only going to take all scanning skills to 4)
Engineering/Electronic/Defensive subs

Basically getting all the basic skills I need to fly any ship I want well, other than the weapon skills and of course and knocking out all the pre reqs for the T2 I want (Heavy Interdictor, Logi, HAC, Recon Ships, Assault Frig, Covert ops, T3)

Remap 2 Mem/Per
Drones
Drones
Drones
Oh. And Fighters just to get that out of the way for the future.

Remap 3 Per/Will

Gunnery and Missile Support Skills (Which should I take to 5? And which are okay at 4?)
T2 S/M/L Hybrids (probably delay large for a while.)
T2 HAMS, RLML, Rockets?, Heavy missiles and eventually cruises.
Gal/Cal Frig/Cruiser/Destroyer 5 BC/BS 4

Any thoughts on anything that I missed?

It feels like you're taking on too much at one time.
Small ships
Medium ships/weapons
Capital ships and all that go with it
Caldari
Gallente
Armor
Shields
Drones
Scanning
T3
...


SLOW DOWN DUDE (or dudette)
Pick a race or a ship and go for that. Just one for now.
Pick something opposite of your current main, and diversify that way.
Maybe make your Cap pilot and Caldari pilot the same guy, and make your Gun and Armor guy the other guy.
You'll hit your goals twice as fast and have two good characters in half the time.

I see where you're coming from, I guess I was just thinking that armor skilla are a short train, and that since caldari (which I will focus on first) also use Hybrids it would just be logical for me to eventually train into gallente as well. And the scanning skills are pretty much needed for me, I live in a WH and like for all of my characters to be able to scan(I only run 2 accounts at the moment, though I'm dabbling with the idea of making a third for just a covops scanner/hacker.

My thoughts were basically just knock out anything I could ever want/need in int/mem so as I'd never(or very long down the line) have to come back to it leaving me to sit in a Per/Wil remap for as long as possible giving me the time to eventually train into all these things.

Though I do see that the carrier pilot is probably over doing it so I will probably leave that out, and focus my current character (who is a bit of a butchered can do a bit of everything first character) into becoming the carrier pilot.

I find it EXTREMELY handy to train ANYTHING that I want, on the spur of the moment, and not have to worry about attributes.

The character has had a general remapping of INT > (PER = MEM) since day one, nearly 5 years. I chose this mapping as the character started as a "mining-only" character. The character moved on to being a freighter & jump freighter pilot, Tengu pilot, Logistic pilot (leveraging cruiser skills), then drone-boat specialist (most recently the Eos, which means charisma leadership skills for Command Ships), and then a HIC pilot. Overall a medium-hull specialist.

Average SP/hour bounces around 2400.

My shadow alt (goes wheverver I do) started similarly, but remapped MEM > INT for Crius reprocessing, and is just about ready to remap back again (May 6th). He's a bit less specialized (notably a mining booster), and is more likely to be trained as needed: http://eveboard.com/pilot/Sig_Rethban
Most recently he became a Black Ops pilot, so he can bridge.

DO NOT KEEP THE CHARACTER DOCKED! Train for stuff that is useful NOW!

That line right there stood out to me the most. And it makes a lot of sense. So basically what I've decided is to focus this character in caldari t2 cruisers with a bit of covert ops on the side.

At what point in a pilots lifetime do you think remapping for INT > PER = MEM is most efficient? I would assume after they've burnt through all the bonus remaps?

Actually, day one for:
A. Industrial characters
B. Characters focusing on drones.
C. Character with no idea what they want to train.

New characters need to train a lot of different skills.

New characters need mostly INT, but an argument can be made for PER. PER = INT is more popular for combat, as PER is a secondary attribute for drones.

When you begin to specialize, after all the basics are done, THEN you can remap. I remapped PER > WIL for year 4+, then INT > MEM for year 5+. Not certain where I'll go next (next annual remap in 13 days).

About the only skills I'd consider worth using a bonus remap on would be to map FROM charisma before a year is up, after maxing leadership skills. Those skills are also not something a rookie needs either.

Don't use you bonus remaps without a lot of consideration. They are not replaceable and extremely valuable.

Well I'm not exactly a rookie, I'm just looking for some guidance and want to get a character focused on caldari T2 cruisers as soon as possible so thats why I'm considering using my bonus remaps. As I know the core fitting skills are essential, and the drone skills will help me no matter what I choose to do (well, for the most part).

I think your plan makes sense but have you put it into EveMon to find out exactly how long he'll be sitting in each map? Dedicating a few months to getting Int skills out of the way could be nice but the toon won't be able to do much if that's all you do (other than maybe scout or industry or sit in a trade hub).

Training cybernetics to 5 is worth it IF you think you'll use implants someday that require it. For pure training purposes it takes a long time to justify it.

One tip on the accelerator: It will keep accelerating the skill you are training when it expires IF you don't stop or make any changes to the skill queue. (At least it worked this way before CCP implemented the unlimited skill queue).

So I should pay attention to right before my character will become 14 days old (I used the +9 for 14 days one) and make sure that I have like a lvl 5 training? Something like propulsion jamming 5?
