How am I supposed to pronounce "Funtanainen" anyway? fun-tha-nay-nein? phun-tan-nai-nein? what?

There's an awful lot of "what? where?" over system names. I'm looking at you, empire space!

This might be a silly allocation of CCP resources but I just though that'd be really nice to have a wiki article with all the CCP staff saying the system names as they are supposed to sound. All official and ****. With cool "speaker" icon to hear the names out loud?

... just , you know, throwing this out there.

It knows what you think.

Im not sure if it would be such a good idea. Because then you would have all those pedants constantly correcting you on comms when you say it wrong.

Please dont turn our EVE into an Apple product, where there is one and ONLY ONE approved way of doing things. I would not like to constantly hear that I am doing it WRONG because I dared to use my brain and think outside the box because Steve....sorry, Hilmar...says that his way is the only way.

I like hearing people utterly butcher empire system names.
It adds to the special yummy flavour that EVE imbues into everything.

okay.
I really am just thinking about something people can refer to when we get confused over pronunciation. Im not sure what you are into with apple's ONLY ONE products and stuff but I think I understand your concern. And that, in turn, got me thinking over languages itself.

On the surface, it's neat and effective. You can bookmark that wiki in the in-game browser and refer to it within a blink but what about people that does not speak english as their primary language? Now, CCP would have to do all of EVE's supported languages? This is only the surface of the problem, if I may call it that.

Different languages have different syllables, for one. Perhaps a Canadians would pronounce Keberz as "keb-herz" while a Japanese person would say it like "kee-bher-z", right?

"real-life" independent vocalizations are naturally subject to confusion and miss-understandings that happens when pronouncing system names out loud depending on where you are from.

EVE need it's own tongue. OMG what have I done?

It knows what you think.
