EVE New Citizens Q&A

My 'main' character (not this one) has around 6.5 million skill points, which isn't a huge amount, but still represents several months' worth of training, and it's enough to be able to allow me to fly a wider range of ships and do things more effectively.

Now, I know this sounds a bit lame, but I seriously regret the name I chose for my female character. I'm a guy, and I wish I'd chosen a more gender neutral name to be known as in the EVE universe. Yeah, I should have thought about this at character creation, deal with etc, I know. But I'm one of these people who spends a lot of time creating my game characters and they have to 'feel' right.

I want to start over on a new character, but the thought of basically flushing those months of training time down the toilet and having to train all those skills again is actually quite off-putting and making me feel like not playing.

Has anyone else started over again for similar reasons, and how did you feel about it?

Yes, you are right. It's just a bit rubbish having to train skills again. Although I did make the mistake of spreading my skills too wide instead of specialising, so starting again will allow me to plan everything better. Now I just have to wait for the 10 hour biomass timer.

So, instead of biomassing, try to sell it on the Character Bazaar? Maybe get a few billion for it, someone may be interested in the skills you have and not care about the name.

Not sure how you are doing on money but you could continue to use your main and then train the new character faster. Meaning you could do an all intel / memory remap and train tank and fitting skills at max SP / Hour then once you get your base skills down switch to a perception / willpower remap and get your ship and weapons skills up then go back to a general remap with your last bonus remap and make that second toon your main. That way you don't have to exactly start from scratch and eventually the alt will become your main.

You could also ask people in your corp to call you by your RL first name. Or you could switch it around in your head and just know for your self that Lucy is short for Lucifer or something like that and bring hell to all that cross you or some RP stuff like that.

I had a main that I then trained an alt. Since I was not worried about the day to day skill needs of the alt my training was much more focused and that alt rapidly became a better character than my main. The freedom of being able to train smart and not have to train what you need I found refreshing. Also that alt that is now my main is a girl and I am a middle aged guy. I have no issues being called by my character's name. But that is just me if it bugs you then it bugs you.

TL;DR
You could look at this as an opportunity to focus train the second toon instead of starting over.

I've made fresh restarts several times over for no logical reason, never regretted it. You play your character, not its SP, so if you have your doubt now you will have your doubt several months from now as well. Might as well play the character you like more.

The only real reason to biomass in this game is to avoid the reputation attached to the character.

Because people who've been in CODE. care terribly about joining horrible carebear corps.
