CCP - I am vexed.

Dear CCP,

I understand that you have good intentions and I do appreciate a lot of the work that you have done lately. However, there is so much clutter on my screen that I don't need. Thankfully, you removed the bubbles on the book marks, that was driving me to a high degree of annoyance yesterday.

There are some other things that I would love to see changed, for example, I would like a little toggle next to the "Pin" and "Unpin" that makes the window fold up into the title bar and unfold when I hover over it, for example, I only want to check Local occasionally. The D-scan window is very bulky, all I want from it are one, maybe two columns of information and I think you will find that people are tired of having to click that button repeatedly. Could we maybe drag the D-scan down into our module's rack so that we can use a hot key? Maybe CTRL + "` / ~" (the odd button next to the 1-9/0 on the alphanumeric pad) could toggle the medium rack to being 1-8 and the low to being Q-I? Have you tried pressing the other hot keys? Very awkward.
People and Places, it would be nice to be able to make it more narrow and shorter too.

I like that you have changed the fonts and yet; the 100% feels huge and chunky while the 90% seems smaller than the old layout, could I get this in a 95% version maybe? I also like the transparency function, which I found today, it might be an old one but being able to see through all my windows now, makes a huge difference.

Yeah, sometimes it really is the small things that can make a big difference, I hope that this will help improve EVE.

Yours faithfully,

Jen

P.S. Your change to worm hole API has back fired in this instance. I am sitting here cloaked looking at their ambush fleet. Normally, I wouldn't be able to see when they leave (because of the change), so I would just sit and wait for more worm hole people to log on. They can't see that no one is coming or that I have gone into their worm hole, so all they see is the NPC deaths before they arrived and the combat sites that are meant to be tempting me. This has made for a lot of bored people, waiting... waiting .... waiting ...

Thanks for the reminder, I tend to forget to turn my sound on lately, - Eagle Eye Cherry, "Are you still having fun?" and lyrics that are coincidental, '... you don't know what it is you've done ... this was the mistake in your master plan ... with the the drugs you have done ... you can understand - are you still having fun?'

I would like 95% scale option too.
Honestly initially I thought they would have a % slider, like you know, most of the MMO games do.

+1 for the slider on text scaling. 90% is a tad too small, 100% a tad too big.

Also on the d-scan, can we have a readout of what degree we're set at back please?

And can we click on the degree range bar to locate the desired range instead of having to drag the slider? You know, like a normal UI slider widget?

And since you still haven't fixed it entirely, make the *&$^#%@ Ctrl key work like a meta key again and quit making me un-press it to use the next Ctrl+XXX key combo!!!

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

Double click the window title bar. I can live without the button but can also support having it there. If they add it, fine, if not, fine.

Resize it? Also, manually clicking the button is required, lag reduction (that's why 2sec delay has been introduced, continuous requests slay the server).

Huh? D-Scan hotkey can be set in options. I can't remember what default is, I set mine to Ctrl+S ages ago. Also, I think using numbers and letters + a toggle button would just lead to too much confusion. Just my opinion though, I wouldn't use it but to each his/her own...

Ummm... resize it?

More options = better in my book. Supported.

In PvP there are no winners, only losers. The trick is to be less of a loser than the guy you're shooting at.

Not as convenient as hover.

Having an auto button that you need to remember to turn on in each system could fix that.

Can't make it smaller than it is right now, has a minimum width that is silly wide.

!= F5 where my hand is resting anyway for using the modules.

Again, has a minimum size that is too large.

Glad you like something. Darn but multi-quoting is annoying. What?

I wasn't being nitpicky just to be a douche, but some of your complaints were a bit unclear and vaguely defined. Which you promptly fixed in your reply :)

I am still against mixing module hotkeys and something else like D-Scan. What would be nice (not my idea, stealing this from someone, just forgot who) would be if you could drag drone groups to module slots and use those shortcuts to release/retract them.

I also believe that using numbers and letters for modules is a bad idea in a game that doesn't have a dedicated "activate chat" button mechanics. However, allowing us to rebind module keys would get you what you want without using a toggle button.

As for the window sizes, yeah, playing on a small screen myself. I just don't see an effective way of shrinking them unless every window supported column management like overview does. To which I say - yes, add it to the whole Carbon UI thiggy and release it ASAP, cramming it into current UI code would likely be a waste of resources.

So I pretty much support everything except the D-Scan idea, although with some caveats.

In PvP there are no winners, only losers. The trick is to be less of a loser than the guy you're shooting at.

Enter could be the active button mechanic and I think there are a lot of people using 1280 x 1024 and 1440 x 900 screens. Smile

Anyway, I shouldn't have provided some solutions up front, now the this thread has been moved to a grave yard. Roll

window sizes can be a drag, made a suggestion about making your own preset window size/positions, link in my sig. still, it does not solve the issue of some windows beeing small or too large, it just lets you define what hotkey combo would open what windoes and where.
