Its time for the CCP office to be adorned with an "Unsuccessful at Everything riding a tiger while holding a Subway sandwich (with pickles)" blacklight poster.

You will be disgusted and aroused at the same time, and you will love it.

They censored some stick figure part but not the rainbow unicorn's fatty? What could possibly be under the censor tag? Straight

I'm in, this contest sounds like a pretty sweet tradeoff to me.

Where can we post WIP's and sketches? These contests are way more fun with a WIP thread.

Just read the Devblog and opened Photoshop to mess around a bit, to see, if i can come up with something...
One idea came to mind and i made a quick mockup, to see how it looks.

And now i have to read here, that Chribba already did some similar stuff... Sad

DAMN YOU CHRIBBA!

I'm just kidding Big smile. You did some awesome stuff there.
Anyway, since i don't want to be called a copycat, i'll drop that idea and leave the portraits artwork to you and just agree with:

An Avatar. On the other hand I never knew customer support had an office, can't discuss why obviously....but 2 months.....decorate it with fire.

Edit: not that I blame them but maybe it'll spread to where management is.

I'm not sure on the best venue but I have no objections to having them posted here, and if I'm wrong about that community will let me know :D

Any limit as to how many we can submit?
Please feel free to submit as many pieces as you like, however we would prefer people spend some time polishing their work rather than submitting multiple draft WIP of the same piece.

It would benefit the final product to have some specifics about the printing equipment. There's also a nuance of RGB and CMYK you might not be aware of.

The exact DPI and appropriate ICC profiles are what are needed. I can assume the DPI is 300, and the print material is vinyl, but that doesn't give me the best feeling while working on something for tens of hours.

Print is done in CMYK, and monitors use RGB. There is a color shift that happens when converting RGB to CMYK. I plan to use PDF, since that is the only choice of the three entry formats that can be saved in CMYK. But. As for PNG and JPG, the final product will not reflect what the artist intended, after undergoing the color shift from RGB to CMYK.

-DPI and ICC Profile of the printer. The print company should have this info. Printed size might be 135cm x 270cm, but there's a chance the printer works in a smaller res... though 300 DPI is fine too. (btw, in pixels that is 32,000 x 16,000)

If it's a printer at CCP, the info should be in print settings...

Is there a chance we can submit in TIFF?

As a Creative Dir. I'm glad someone has already asked about the printing specs (high five to Rain6637!) I've participated in several "call for entries" online including the depiction of the Slaughtering of BearWhale, bitcoin art presented on Reddit by ShapeShift.io in which my preference was creating a mixed media (watercolor/ink) piece of art rather than doing it all digitally (obviously a personal preference). This method opened up the option for the original piece of art to be purchased for display as opposed to only having a digital original.

Super stoked for the opportunity CCP! Been waiting for something like this since day 1.

The CCP Customer Support comes with exciting news about an unusual competition: become the first EVE player to decorate CCP’s office in Reykjavik!

If you manage to convince the art judges of the Customer support team, then your art work will decorate part of the CCP office! This event ends on April 30th, so you should have quite a bit of time to create your finest art! Preview images not larger than 5 MB can be sent to acalltoart@ccpgames.com.

Read more about this exciting chance and pretty unique opportunity in GM Grave's latest dev blog A Call To Art - Decorating CCP Customer Support!

We are excited to see what you will come up with!

The specifications thus far where requested by our printing partner and art team and represent the minimum spec, however we are certainly open to collaborating on the best image specifications and file type with the winners during the printing process.

We cant' accept TiFF as previews, and it is important we stick with the standard file types for now in order to ensure the images can be shared internally without file size or software issues.

Alright. There's still time for me, since I have to plan this before working on it in final res, but there are some other issues with waiting til the very end for the DPI. That would require me to work in vector, which would take 3-4x more time just for the purpose of setting a size at the very end. Plus if everything isn't locked into a Raster before sending, the printer is liable to get confused.

Please don't make me work in Illustrator. It's murder.

I just need the printer max DPI, so I can start working on everything in Raster. That's what will produce the best final image according to what the file is supposed to look like: Raster, CMYK, PDF... at the correct DPI and ICC profile.

I still have about a week before I will be working in final res. The ICC can happen at the very end.

I'm making you legitimate art, and at that size and DPI you will see every little mark that I make. I also want to make sure the image will have good readability from a distance as well as close up.

It's not a small matter... working in 300 DPI, 135cm x 270cm uses 16 GB of RAM in Photoshop. The working file is already 2.6 GB on disk, 500 MB flattened.

I've spent an hour and a half on it, and I plan to work on it for at least that long each night.

Anyone with Photoshop can hack together EVE stock photos, but I want you to have something special on your wall.

Why, because artists haven't had an outlet in EVE since the ship design contest?

I just noticed every desk in customer service sports either a dual or triple monitor setup.

How about a deviantart page also? Or are they gonna charge CCP something for this?

There are tons of artwork there that can easily fit the EvE theme.

Does anyone know of anywhere besides the Captain's Quarters where there is a view or illustration of the open capsule? Trying to figure out how the curves work and how you get seated in it...

I've always thought this was us swimming inside the pod goo:

and that the Rubicon cinematic showing us interacting with some kind of interface is the UI inside our brains..

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable about the lore can correct/back me up here.

Absolutely, I already vote for this! But you have to include more people's faces this time. I never found any of my characters in the last one. Shocked

I would only have to search for one face when I look for all my EVE characters ...

That's cool I've never seen that video. I'm trying to set up a scene where the pod is open like in the Captain's Quarters but from profile, down in the area you can't walk on. It looks like a 3D model so I assumed it was somewhere else too.

That's okay, it looks like the art on the outerspace capsule is the same as the essential engineering art on the Captain's Quarters pod.

I think I can piece it together okay. Weird how the CQ pod is greenish yellow and the dock and space capsule is black, though, yknow?

The black is a lot sexier and definately helped subscribe me to eve, the capsule is hot looking.

All mails sent to the contest address will be read, and should a message fail due to file-size etc then the sender will receive a return to sender/server error message. However an auto-reply would be nice and I'll check with our IT wizards post FanFest to look into this in the event they manage to survive this weekends festivities.
