This has been a huge topic of debate in the Caldari RP community for a while, if I recall. Though it is generally agreed among lore enthusiasts/roleplayers that you should look at it as more of a Finnish and Japanese mix.

You must remember that aside from Imperial Japan, the Japanese have a pretty much corporate economy. Especially in today's world.

In fact, most of the large Japanese Corporations trace back to old families from the time of the samurai. Much like the Caldari Corporations, for example, take the Wiyrkomi Corporation.

It is interesting to note though, that the way the unified Caldari Government works is very fascist.

Though in most of the culture and history that is given, even in Chronicles, it is hinted that the culture itself is very very Japanese. There was even someone who once upon a time tried to quell this topic by writing down a somewhat Caldari language using the words we know to create more.

He has a few interesting topics at the start of his PDF. Mainly though if you boil it down the only real part of the Caldari that seem "USA like" to me is the Practical Political bloc. They truly are in it for nothing but the money.

On to the topic at hand though it has been for a long time been believed to be a Finnish Japanese blend of sorts. Also I do have copies of the Napanii Primer if it is not able to be found.

You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.

I agree almost 100%. I think the USA-Like is the hafl of the population in the Caldari State, and Japanese the other half, where Japanese point of views have mixed with the most radicla righteous "USA-on Space" politics of survival and we have, Oh. the Caldari State, where they use a lingua franca as the Finnish Suomi to have a tie that is not culturally strong to both of them. And Sir, I would like to read the *PDF you own, if I may ask, just for study and have another point of view,

Yes, we have made it to the New Eden. The influence can be seen in the names of Caldari systems and The Kalevala Expanse -region (Kalevala being Finnish national epic).

"Founded on the tenets of patriotism and hard work that carried its ancestors through hardships on an inhospitable homeworld, the Caldari State [Finland] is today a corporate dictatorship, led by rulers who are determined to see it return to the meritocratic ideals of old. Ruthless and efficient in the boardroom as well as on the battlefield, the Caldari [the Finnish] are living emblems of strength, persistence, and dignity. " -EVElopedia

That sounds very Finnish, but are the Caldari Finnish? No. What doesn't fit in the picture there is the strong "corporate dictatorship".

Let the lager decide what is wrong, what is right.
