Downvoting for CSM?

since we are voting in blocks, is there a way to DOWNVOTE a person to fill up our ballets? I ask because I will most likely not have enough people to vote FOR ... but feel it would be fair to vote AGAINST candidates to complete the ballot. I see it as a way to offset the major alliances tendency to block vote for their people, to give the little guys a much better chance at representing who the game is ACTUALLY played by.

why should someone's vote be somehow nullified just because they're part of an alliance, why is the game not 'actually' played by members of major alliances, and what happens when the evil big alliances start bloc downvoting the heart of gold downtrodden little guy

also if they have it so rough how do the little guys keep managing to get themselves elected Straight

Just don't fill in all 14 choices.

You see this here? This is my degree in Politics and Public Law. I am now shaking said degree in the general direction of the EVE forum servers and wishing mean, nasty, hurtful things upon you (ingame).

Never not believe in your own opinions.

"Terribad" is not a real word although if it were, it would be applicable to your needs and wants.

CSM is not a democracy, only winners are the ones who don't vote. Of course, massive amounts of ISK will change that.

All posts and mails screencapped and time stamped, including out of EVE, you will not reverse on me.

Might come in handy!

You can downvote a candidate by filling the lower slots of your ballot up with folks who have no chance of winning. You can think of it as a Perot effect.

Joffy Aulx-Gao for CSM. Fix links and OGB. Ban stabs from plexes. Fulfill karmic justice.

This. And you don't have to vote the full 14 slots. I only voted on six candidates.

ITT: people who don't know how voting works but think they should talk about it anyway.

I take offense at this post.

Dear babby jesus help us if people start getting confused in real-life when you're not able to 'downvote' in real elections.

Malc is probably referring to my post. At the end of the day the vote calculation algorithm used by CCP is not known, except maybe by CSM who may be bound by NDA not to impart any knowledge.

In the total absence of information, all we have is conjecture.. and the desire to vote against a candidate is not a new one.

Unless CCP is changing it from the last elections, they're using the Wright System. The code used by CCP to run the calculation is here: linkabloobloo

Search forums. Use it.

With the STV vote system, not filling your 14 choices fully is the best way to limit independent representation on the CSM.

There is no downvote possible, but the STV system is fair enough that you do not need it. Just put 14 candidates that are not part of the big blocks if you want to not cast a vote for any block, and prioritize them according to how well their capmaign fit your views.
