Dock able Ship Maintenance Array

I have a suggestion, why not make the Ship Maintenance Array and X-Large Ship Maintenance Array Dock able, like a Station.

Then when you are docked, you have the Undock button, buttons for fitting, repair like in a station.

Plus there would be buttons for the other structures, that you have anchored inside the force field of your POS,
so that you can access them and use them from the Ship Maintenance Array.

This would make things a bit easier, instead that you have to fly around between the different structures, and
wast a lot of time on this.

And when you log off Eve Online you will still stay docked, which will make it quit use full in Wormhole space.

We wold all love a POS rework, but I don't think this is the way to go about it.

First of all, what happens when a player logs off? Does their ship in the SMA disappear?
Does it still take up space within the SMA while someone is docked?
Does a player offline take up space in an SMA if they logged off while docked?
What happens if the SMA is destroyed when people are logged off inside?

But what happens if it gets blown up while you're inside it? Are you forcibly undocked as a pod or are you instantly podded? if this happens while you are logged out do you come back in to find a pod floating in space or do you end up in the NPC station where you left your medical clone? If the ship or structure comes under attack while you're inside it do you hear loud explosions and see camera shake, sparks, little fires, and girders falling down around you before the blinding flash of the explosion? There is always a risk playing Eve Online. Smile

When you log off and you are docked, you ship will take up space in the SMA.

If your POS is attacked while you logged off, and your SMA is destroyer, your ship will be
released, and float in space, where you can be destroyed.

The CEO of a Corp should always have the ability to eject a ship into space inside the
force field, if a player hasn't been playing for quite a while.

As stated at the beginning, there is always a risk playing Eve Online, and thats what
makes it great. Big smile

You can already dock ships inside SMAs. Right click and select 'store vessel.' If you want to remove yourself from space, either log out or move to a station. Remember, it's a "Player Owned Structure," not a station.

That's not how it works.

I know that it might not make a lot of sense in systems with stations, that you dock and
log off, but if your are in systems (Like Wormhole space), where you don't have the same
access to stations as in other parts of New Eden, than it will make sense to be able to
dock like at a station.

Plus why can a Player Own Structure not be like a station ?

No, the real question is why should your hundred million isk structure behave like a multi-billion isk outpost?

'Player Owned Starbase'

It makes no real difference of course, other than sounding a tiny bit cooler.

To give players more opportunities in this game, making things more interesting.

Why shouldn't it be possible to put up structures worth 1/10 worth a outpost, and have some of the abilities
as a station and a outpost have ?

I am talking about options here, options to do things, even if you're a small Corp or Alliance, who don't have
billions of isk to buy multi billion Outposts.
Options for large corporations and alliances to make use of POS in others ways as they have done so fare.

Options is what makes a game or things in real life interesting.

If you don't have options, then at a certain point everything will become monotone and boring, and that
is when players stop playing Eve Online, to do something else.

Outside clones and removing yourself from space, you can already do everything in a POS that you can do in an outpost.

Still no reason why not to have the option, as you write yourself, you can not remove yourself from space. Smile

Yet your idea is to allow you to do exactly that. Again, if you want to remove yourself from space, either log out or go to a station in k-space. Otherwise, there's not much you can't already do at a POS, with the right POS modules.

Making all the structures integrated with the tower and providing something similar to the station menu would be nice, even if technically you were still in space and could be seen.

Overwrite POS menus and functionality with station menus and functionality but keep the 'in-space' aspect of it.

It would be nice to spin my ship in space with a nice backdrop of stars and such....

Yes, just has to be balanced so its worse than outposts in every regard. +1
