Can you achieve faction standings by ratting belts and anoms?

No. You'll only lose standings to the respective pirate faction with that method.

No, you can do storylines, tutorials, epic arcs and certain missions you can only do once per character to increase your faction standing.

correct me if im wrong but ratting gets you concord standings, if i want serpentis standings then id have to do missions and shooting serpentis in belts and anoms will lose me serpentis standings.

Domination Nephilim - Angel Cartel

Calm down miner. As you pointed out, people think they can get away with stuff they would not in rl... Like for example illegal mining... - Ima Wreckyou*

No, ratting does not get you CONCORD standings.

It increases your security status, which is different.

Not all NPCs are going to give standings penalties. But if you're shooting structures/civilian craft/commanders, then expect hefty blows standings-wise.
Pirate faction standing can be regained through storylines, COSMOS (or derived standings).

Tutorial agents I believe reset after a while so you can repeat these, and there is at least 2-3 groups of tutorial agents per empire.
Quote:
With the Incarna expansion, 60 different Event Agents known as Tutorial Agents (15 per Faction) were forced into early retirement due to Aura NPE. Those Agents were a very good source for gaining a one time Faction standing increase. The Assembly Hall sub forum has a proposal asking for Capsuleer support to bring those Agents back out of retirement.

Looks like they were removed?

Epic arcs also reset after like 3 months if I remember correctly.

Cosmos are a once per character thing though.

Yeah, Epics are 3 months as I've done the SoE one several times on another toon, as well as some Cosmos (waste of time they were). downside is that this toon has minimal combat skills and so to do missions is going to involve training into aspects I don't want to train. I may go to the SoE Epic arc though, hopefully I have the skills to fit a ship that can do that with ease.

Ratting = Security Status

Missions = Faction / Corp Standings + Security Status (?)

The best way to "achieve" faction standings is to mission regularly for a corporation within that faction, and every 16th mission do that all important storyline mission. This increases your standing higher than anything else in the game. The thing about standings is, "What have you done for me lately."

Factions don't give you high standings 'cause you're some cool guy who listens to the right music and think the right babe is hot. They like people who do things for them. They aren't fools and don't fall for you doing them a single favor, then they lavish their love and affection on you. You have to make a dedicated effort to support their interests. This involves investment of time and resources, and for this (over time) they become quite grateful.

But, it takes time. It takes a lot of time, and it takes effort. There is no shortcut to their hearts.
They aren't starving for affection and have plenty of friends in New Eden.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.
